I think in doing so it helps hammer home the message. He's outraged that it's happening even though he's not one.

Which is how all sane people should react regardless of their religion.

And given his stance on so many other things, give a complete mulligan for it. Its just one are where he has great animus. Actually think early in his life he or someone cared about took some kind of major hit from it that has influenced afterward. But whether true or not, if you allow for it, his takes can be very self-aware and critical of his side of the fence.

And the Boko Haram thing has been running amok for years like he said. Very good on Bill Maher to compare to the hyperbole of Gaza.

If you listen or pay attention to Maher, it's not that he thinks the American left would be outraged. He thinks they should be outraged. He has a huge problem with the American left over issues like this.

He's an American institution and will be sorely missed if and when he retires. Trust me when I say that his takes sometimes make me wonder what his malfunction is, but he's always willing to talk it out. Despite me not agreeing with much of his ideology, he's one of my favorite political commentators of all time.

He is a huge thorn in the side for the Left too, by allowing opposing views to get out. He's also a problem (similar to Rogan) for the MSMDNC because he informs the public of news that they bury 24/7/365.

Liberals and moderates watch his show which makes all the difference, since the facts might change some minds out there. Fox, etc have primarily conservative viewers so they are little to no threat to the Left.

BM doesn't hate America like the majority of his Democrat party - particularly their leaders. I'd call him useful opposition if that's a thing.

Bill Maher is the same liberal now that he has been since Politically Incorrect. While "liberals" made a full sprint to towards becoming the modern leftist, he has more or less stayed where he was, which is extremely rare for the left's talking heads.

People who are astonished that a liberal would say such things are not appreciating how many worlds apart your average liberal in 1995 is from your average "liberal" in 2025.
