I can envision 50 years of peace and prosperity if we let Russia take Ukraine and set a path for Taiwan to transition to China.

I gaf about me and my family's prosperity far more than i care about people a half a world away,

Russia doesn't tuck tail and run.

They leave after a good ass whipping, as long as you leave an exit open. Afghanistan. WWI. Cold War. Kinda did in Finland. Left without much fuss from Yugoslavia.

Read carefully: China is not invading Taiwan.

Not yet. They still need a few more years to have enough amphibious ships to conduct and support a large enough landing.

I saw a comparison between US, Russian, and Chinese naval vessels recently.

We are way ahead of both China and Russia in carriers, but things are pretty even in almost every other class of warship. And in some areas, we are behind

I was rather surprised at this

I had always assumed we we had many times the ships they had in all categories

I read an article talking about how Chinese commercial ships are built to military spec in order for quick conversion in wartime. I didn't double check the source but interesting it true

Absolutely. First to the trough with drone swarm and stealth drone technologies wins.

If China starts a war, they lose their rare earth minerals and oil supply very soon thereafter. Because most of their supply is imported, we sink their supply ships, blow up their pipelines, and cutoff access to mines around the world which would be hard to defend.

A month or so ago Putin and Xi meet and right after Putin starts testing NATO member boarders. No coincidence imo. China is watching

Now today in the news China is pulling the rare earth card. Taiwan makes 90% of worlds computer chips. China basically owns rare earths. Without those 2 things. The US and its allies are in the 1960s. We can not let China roll on Taiwan, we'd have to stop it no matter what

We should have taken Russia out in Ukraine instead of this softer gentler isolationist Republican stuff. China has been watching

Edited to add
And by taking out Russia, thats simply continued or even expanded support of Ukraine

Maybe Trump will finally learn not to trust China or North Korea or Russia.

They are enemies, not trading partners.

So you wanted World War III to start in 2022.

If Trump was elected in 2020, we woulnt even be talking about Ukraine. Would have never happened.

The bigger concern is why did we allow this to happen? We should've been manufacturing our own chips. What the hell were democrats thinking. It as a terrible, horrible decision that severely negatively affected America so I'm sure it was the left who did this.

Its not like the chips all being outsourced started under Biden. This stuff is all Ds and Rs with their heads up their ass talking gay marriage and other social blah blah for decades while running up a giant debt and watching our manufacturing base be outsourced to the point we cant even win a war where China isnt on our side

Our national defense and financial system can no longer sustain the irresponsibility of Rs and Ds in power

Function and natural outcome of globalism and free trade. You can blame most everyone equally.

Cost inputs were spread across the world to find the cheapest provider for whatever step in the supply chain for whatever product you are discussing.

Trump 1 started the unwinding of the current global world order because it completely ignored national security and soverignty risks,

COVID then highlighted and accelerated the need to near shore/re-shore critical supplies,

Biden largely continued Trump's China policies,

Trump 2 has accelerated what he started in Trump 1.

So as long as we, and our allies & partners, can impart some amount of doubt into xi and ccp's mind about the likelihood of his/their success, then yes this correct.

Wouldn't be surprising in the least. It's pretty well known that there's really no such thing as independent private companies in prc.

We could actually choke out TSMC if we needed to. The largest node of ultra high purity quartz in the world is in Spruce Pine, NC.

Quartz is only useful for the clock cycle generator though. For chips, it's the germanium and gallium that China has a choke hold on. For other RE minerals, they largely impact battery production for electronics and vehicles.

This dependency on foreign nations for RE minerals is not some new revelation, people have been talking about (on this board as well) for at least 5-6 years.

We have a golden opportunity right now to take out Russian oil and gas infrastructure using Ukraine as a proxy. We need to take advantage of that not just to weaken Russia but to deny that resource to the Chinese. Dependence on energy imports may be their greatest weakness.
