Dumb ass movie

Idris Elba is an exceptional actor. Calling him a DEI hire is like calling Denzel DEI.

Movie was ok, and pretty damn good by Netflix original standards (low bar). I didn't mind the ending because the destruction and fallout of the explosion itself wasn't the point of the movie.

This may be the worst post in the history of Texags. This movie is complete and utter trash! I have never thought, "I effing hated that movie" after watching a movie, but I did with this one. It's so bad it seems it was intentionally made that way because I can't fathom how anyone could imagine that being enjoyed. I guess the OP did so what do I know.

How does it compare to that movie the Obama's made about the black and white families getting forced to live together during an apocalypse? That movie was really stupid too.

What no one seems to realize is how absurd the calculations about nuclear war are.

In a very arguable way, the prospects of a "Day After" war actually negates full blown world war. (Not saying makes can't happen, but what I mean is this) :>>>

NOTHING overseas is worth full blown nuclear war. Think about it. NOTHING. Same goes for China and Russia. What is there in South America that is worth losing Beijing and the 3 Dams region over? What is there in UK worth losing Moscow and central Russia over?

YES, unaccountable leadership that should be strung up might launch a nuclear war, but what I am saying is, there is no real objective or tactical risk that justifies that escalation. Anything is better than that.

So as heard it implied the other day in a presentation, because of their level of power, nuclear weapons have come close to making themselves obsolete.

Or certainly should be in calculations of a citizenry. Again, we are not talking about leaders, but there should be an understanding that any that launch such a war should be made a point of being eliminated after, even if the only remaining is a Max Max mob to hunt them down.

Now the wild card is if some odd understanding develops that even small tactical use does not trigger MAD -- then who knows.

Put differently: Governments and press talk in inertia terms so much they don't realize there is now no prospect where it makes sense to go to full blown nuclear war over anything other than your own nation. Even the worst domino scenario doesn't rate it, because you can always use the time to come up with some other kind of answer.

Poland 1939 no longer makes sense. Not as long as you have excessively powerful nuclear weapons.No principle or return would rate it.

I guess the point of this movie is that everyone above the actual missile operators right up to the president are idiots?

It seemed that most had about the same awareness of what to do as your average fire drill participant.

I do appreciate the DEI point the movie made about the president though... That he was selected entirely because he was black. He demonstrated not one other reason he might have been selected president. If you picked any random person off the street, they could have read the same script the actor who played president read and it would have made more sense because you'd think "well I guess that tracks... He's just a random guy off the street".

So thumbs up to the movie for getting that right about DEI.

I am really hoping that El Trumpo has had MANY briefings about the nuclear football and understands exactly what needs to happen

Well at least it was better than a super hero movie.

But it was a full display (albeit fairly well done) of stupidity on every level. I think that was actually the point of the movie, but I find it hard to believe that much stupidity would actually prevail. DEI administration or not.

Agree with others points- there is no scenario in which launching Nukes makes any sense whatsoever. No scenario. I suppose we must keep the appearance up that we are that crazy, but surely we are not. And to think we would do so without actually understanding the origin of a strike is even more ridiculous.
