Now do Nancy Pelosi!
Quote:

Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California saw her wealth increase by at least 2,292% during her 37 years in Congress, much of it through stock trading.

The former House speaker, who announced Thursday that she will retire from Congress in 2027, reported a minimum net worth of $2 million when she first took office... her current net worth is at roughly $278 million.

Which is worse?

The penalties for what that blood sucking vampire Pelosi did and the sports betting corruption need to be increased dramatically. Mandatory seizure of assets and jail time.

ETA: all revenue obtained in these cases go toward paying brown the deficits.
We really need to rewrite our laws concerning libel and slander.

Damn, legalizing sports betting and letting Draft Kings purchase regional sports broadcasting rights worked out well.

cant wait until NIL athletes get caught up in this too.

The proliferation of legalized gambling has made it easier to catch people doing this. The sports books are the ones that spot that irregular betting action.

The increased ease of catching people is dwarfed by the increase in those participating due to the ease of access.

If left unchecked, it will eventually ruin "amateur" athletics.

Before legalization and proliferation it existed in the U.S., but it was highly infrequent. Not so much anymore.

Yes, because it's occurring at all time highs.

Have the defendants balked at the charges?

When enough evidence comes out they will be forced to strike a deal.

What if the evidence is baseless?

The obvious response is that everyone will walk.

When does the entertainment company that calls itself pro football get theirs?

Interest in the NFL is propped up by sports betting and fantasy football leagues.

They are wearing out their welcome with sports fans stateside and are having to push their product in Mexico and Europe to try and expand their market. Seriously after a full day of college playoff football on Saturday do you really get the same excitement about watching the NFL games on Sunday? Watching a 3 or 4 loss NFL team try to position itself for a playoff run just doesn't cut it anymore.

Their TV ratings are up 7% from last year.

Probably the occupants of those empty stadium seats watched it at home. But really what other sporting event is on tv on Sunday? Golf? Not much to do outside when the weather gets colder in the north, either. They have a captive audience. Sports bettors and fantasy footballers have a vested interest in watching the games too, for their ulterior motive. A percentage or two increase in viewership doesn't mean sports fans were watching with baited breath the outcome of the games. Besides statistics are overrated and easily manipulated.

Well...

There's a complicated thing going on here.

Some people exposed to gambling activities have an increased likelihood of being involved. There's also a genetic element to it as well. Criminals have a much higher propensity to gamble. Ethnic groups also have established ways of gambling that make them exposed and likely to participate.

It isn't greed that we are speaking of. It is culture. You don't find many Mormons and virtually no Amish stumbling about casinos.

Not a big sports better to begin with but not sure how anyone can feel confident some of these wild prop bets are not rigged

At least none of you used a 4th round pick on clase in your fantasy baseball league like I did. He was never right this year, and now I know why.

So that's what 45 was doing during his baseball experiment. Got tired of gambling on basketball.

Explains a lot. Nobody could suck as bad as he did.
