Dems are in bad shape here. This guy is an ally of Mamdani and will hit on all of the Gen Z voters that gave NYC to Mamdani. The cities with large, split demographics are cannibalizing each other.

The Dem party is so fractured right now. I would expect AOC to announce her bid to replace Schumer before EOY.

Gen Z firebrand challenges establishment giant: NYC's Chi Oss tees up primary bid against Hakeem Jeffries

Quote:

New York City council member Chi Oss filed paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission on Monday for a congressional campaign, positioning him to launch a primary challenge against House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., for New York's 8th Congressional District.

Oss is a far-left Gen Z activist and political ally of socialist Zohran Mamdani. The New York Post reported last week that Mamdani had urged Oss against challenging the Democratic House leader.

His campaign marks a direct challenge to the old guard of the Democratic Party establishment from the party's young, progressive wing, and it comes as Democrats are riding high following Mamdani's success in New York City and their gubernatorial wins in New Jersey and Virginia.

Schumer's term doesn't end until 2028. AOC would be making a grave error by announcing now that she will be taking a run at Schumer. That would give a potential primary opponent an "in" and make a general harder. Even if she wins both in 2026, that will hurt campaign money.

I disagree. I think it would give her access to additional fundraising and two years of pressure to force Chuck to retire. I don't see it as hurting her chances for 28, but a chance for her to increase her fundraising arm and likely declare her heir apparent.

How are Dems in bad shape because of this?!

Hakeem is just as radical, but he wears a mask.

He's not radical enough for NYC as we've seen with their recent mayor elect.

Seems like a bit of a slap in the face to Jeffries after he bent the knee to endorse Mamdani. Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy...

This seems like 1968 - 1972 all over again for the Dems. The base has shifted far Left and will crush any Dem that doesn't toe the line. Barring a massive Republican scandal (Watergate) or economic collapse this will harm them in '28.

Replace one democrat with another, who cares. They will all vote D in the midterms

I keep thinking the GOP is handling this all wrong.

As long as people like AOC and Jeffries don't have any power, they are free to run their mouths with impunity. Instead of making Mike Johnson Speaker, they should put in AOC or Jeffries and then watch burn them and the DNC burn themselves to the ground trying to push stuff that the GOP will never vote for.

So you want to put one of those 2 loonies second in line for running the country? Hell to the F-ing No! The left has already tried to shoot Trump at least twice. With that as their prize if they succeed in getting him and Vance? That is insane thinking.
