This made news some time ago and the Prof got fired I believe. I hope A&M won't let her in again because this opens the door to more liberal woke nonsense.

I say, fire the committee!!

The internal committee ruled that the university failed to follow proper procedures and did not prove there was good cause to terminate McCoul. The committee unanimously voted this week that "the summary dismissal of Dr. McCoul was not justified."

The university said in a statement that interim President Tommy Williams has received the committee's nonbinding recommendation and will make a decision after reviewing it.

A committee did that? Oh well, we should certainly follow the committee. Everyone knows the conclusion of a committee is final.
They paid for their wars with your tax dollars and also with your untaxed dollars. Inflation is theft.

Nope. But I also know the legal system has different view of firing people than I do.

The problem is that there is even such a thing as "tenure" and "academic freedom"

Professors should do their little activist thing on their own time like everyone else. Theyre nothing special

Hire them to do a job, and if they don't do it per their employer's specifications, good riddance, they can go work somewhere else

It's the dumbest thing and it's why we are where we are today in "academia"

Nope. But I also know the legal system has different view of firing people than I do.

Okay. My guess is that the courts in Texas will also frown on a professor placing their opinions above state law, and subversively continuing to push an agenda that has nothing to do with the published curriculum for the class.

To be clear, she wasn't fired for having an opinion about transgenderism. She was fired for pushing that opinion into a children's literature class in which the topic was age inappropriate, was not included in the published syllabus, and had recently been specifically prohibited for presentation in that manner by the state legislature and with the governor's signature.

So the fact that a random committee deemed the "summary dismissal ... unjustified" is pretty weak sauce to try to take to a court.

But as you said, we'll see, won't we?

Correct. All lecturers work on contract. The committee is blowing smoke, any lecturer's contract can be canceled with or without good cause.
