I can just roll out of bed and look 'professional'. But blacks have hair that isn't naturally accepted as 'professional' so they do have to spend a lot of time, effort, money to straighten their hair or buy wigs, etc. You were born with an opportunity they just don't have. I don't think they're asking for some special treatment, just the opportunity to spend as little effort on their hair as you do.

Well. They are.
The fact that they are asking to be treated fairly and you thinking they are asking for something special is telling

I don't think most people realize just how much time and money many WHITE women spend on their hair. Almost no females walk around with natural hair, aside from maybe young Asian and Latina females who tend to have thick shiny "easy" hair.
Also, some of the prettier black women I have seen wear their hair in somewhat of a styled afro...or in a shaggy/curly way.
Not one damned person ever asked or demanded that black womeen have to straighten their naturally curly hair. That would be like blaming whites for out of control eyelid surgery trends in Korea and Japan. That's on THEM.

Hair policing by employers is dumb unless there is a legit safety hazard. Hair policing by schools is actively harmful to kids and serves no legitimate purpose.
The former should be legal. The latter should be illegal.

What are you talking about? Are you bald?
When I wake up, my gorgeous blond hair looks like crap.
After I shower, wash, condition, dry, comb or brush, then, it looks pretty good.
And because my hair grows so fast, when I was in the Fightin Texas Aggie Band, I had to get my hair cut on Thursday afternoon, right before haircut inspections. If I got it cut on Monday or Tuesday like other folks, it would be too long by Thursday.

Many do that and have for years. Then weaves were invented and younger black women opted for them. BUT those are expensive. Over time, a very good quality wig would be a better investment.
I actually had a wig for awhile when I was and also water skiing a lot preparing for competitions (nothing to write home about as I was way too light-weight to dig in to make those one-armed pylon turns at 36 mph. Was okay up to then but at 36? Nah.) Wig also came in handy when I was taking scuba diving lessons at night in a pool. Towel dry, slap on the wig and go home to shower. Then go out.
Anyway back to the topic. I could dry my hair but not really style it, so I had the wig to wear until I could get home and fix it. That was back during the Big Hair era. Needed a lot of product to hold up that 'do.

Why not? Discrimination has been allowed, and even encouraged, for decades now

How do dreadlocks work? How does hair get that way?
Originally, it was dung that was used to twist and then dried to hold that shape. Didn't stink as it was dried.
How they do them now, mostly weaves, I suspect.

They literally are.
Its a dumb law anyway. How would a person even prove that they were discriminated against due to their hair?
This is just going to lead to excess litigation

One thing i've discovered when I'm interviewing people:
If they have corn rows, they are generally not employable. And i'm saying this as a black(ish) guy. So I'm going out on a limb and saying you probably don't know what the **** you're talking about.

Literally the only good thing about being bald is you don't have to put 2 seconds a day into your hair.

Now that I'm retired, I don't have to put ANY time into my hair [which is thinning] or my beard.
And the cats don't care, as long as I feed them in morning and evening.
