This is actually a bad analogy if you had read the book. Thankfully, you get to post bad analogies and congressmen and news media orgs get to continue to say whatever they want to say about a sitting president and his administration without any consequences and the public gets to see whatever you or anyone else says wherever you say it.
People working inside our intelligence agencies get to make up stuff about a president elect, run that information through their media sources, and then run a multi year investigation using government resources to try and find out the truth about information they already knew was a lie. Those people get book deals and earn speaking fees in our country without consequence. That would never happen in Orwells 1984.
There are certainly countries in the world that have an almost 1984 level tyranny. Those of us residing in the U.S. don't live in that reality.
Aldous Huxley's warnings about the dystopian future in Brave New World is much more similar to our reality in this country. That is why all that I described above is even able to happen.
This is a presidential team defending itself using the PR tools it has to do so. There is nothing punitive and the shrinking number of our thinking public has full freedom to compare what they are claiming with what those they have listed are claiming. Again, not how any of it worked in Oceania.
