Exactly what was she trying to do by storming the governor's office?

Certifiable Leftist, wing-nut, BSC, full-tilt looney bin, aggressive, violent, mental case.

And she, more like DemocRats voting for her are going to make it a fight. Those that would vote for her promote this kind of politician because they want to destroy areas one by one until they have destroyed it all. Incrementalism. Trust me, you have neighbors that would vote for her if she was here running in Texas.

That's where we are, as a country.

This is a conservative area!

It's not unique to this local race. Step back and look at all that has changed since January.

Trump and company are doing a lot of things that are good in my book, but bad in the eye of others.
  • Ending USAID and all kinds of NGO gimmees to the left
  • Crushing DEI
  • Securing the border
  • Deporting illegal aliens
  • Dialing back excessive regulations
  • Pushing back on the man-made climate change scam
Some others I'm mixed on like streamlining the federal workforce with large, abrupt layoffs. Agree with the streamline. Don't agree with the chaotic, insensitive way it was handled. Can be done much better.

And one I don't agree with... broad-based tariffs where Trump is picking winners and losers. He's also caused huge uncertainty, which is contributing to reduced investment, layoffs, and a soft labor market.

All this from a Trump voter. I'm still a supporter, happy overall, and give him a solid B grade.

But the folks who don't like that long list are pissed, and they are registering their voice at the ballot box. It's the way our system works. Just like it did when FJB went way too far, and voters swept Trump into office.

He was going for governor. Weird names and weird positions only garner you minor state offices in Texas

Van Epps winning every county except one by +4% to 70%, most in the 25% to 60% range.

Behn is winning Davidson County by over 70%. Davidson is the home of Nashville.

Turning into Austin. Nashville will regret it.

For some reason, they altered the district and threw in some Nashville suburbs loaded with outsiders who brought their Marxist values with them.

In Florida it is different. Folks here from other states are here to escape blue state rot and vote accordingly. Same goes for many parts of Tennessee.

Nashville? A lot of clowns go there thinking the way they do things in California and New York are models to emulate.

Looks like the Republicans hold onto the seat.

Not unhappy about that result no matter what the margin.

Object lesson in the need to be careful in the redistricting process.

The savages and scum have to go somewhere. Don't want to lose a good seat in an effort to make a trash district more competitive.

The fewer of these cockroach Democrats the better for the country. Just don't threaten good GOP districts by infesting them with the vermin.

More like the Dems wasted a whole lot of money they do NOT have on a huge swing & miss all in the name of trying to score some positive talking point to distract from the disaster after disaster that is resulting from their ****astic policies.

So… congrats?!

Just looked up Behn's bio. Born in Knoxville, went to a very exclusive, and expensive private school. Then went to college at that bastion of conservatism: the University of Texas @ Austin.

Probably where she learned men can get pregnant.

An article of faith in the Democrat Party and apparently widely-taught within our colleges and universities.

They through a lot of money into this thinking they could catch Republicans sleeping.

Appreciate the efforts of President Trump and Speaker Johnson in giving the Republican a helping hand. Can't afford allowing a good seat like this to be lost because the majority population view a special election as nothing special.

Quote:

Republicans barely won in a Trump-friendly Tennessee district. Here's what it means for Pennsylvania and 2026.

According to the Philadelphia (filthy-delphia) Inquirer. The Republican candidate "barely" won
Van Epps 54% and Behn 45%. 9 friggin percent!

Did the Inquirer run a headline that the Dems barely won in the VA/NJ elections? No I think not!

The way I see it, the Dems poured tons of money into Behn's campaign (money they do no have) and then lost by almost 10% that makes this a terrible loss!

Trump should post this story on his new "media bias" website.

Hold up now - what genre of country are we talking about here? If it's bro country hick hop or modern Nashville, I cannot hold that against anybody.

Now if we are talking actual country from the 70's, 80's and into the early 90's - may God have mercy on your soul for you should suffer in Purgatory because of that.

If what I've heard on the radio is correct, then yes, it's dicey.

The GOP, as usual, **** the bed with a poor candidate and little support. The Dems got behind this raging ***** and it's supposedly a close race.

How was Van Epps a poor candidate?

+9 points in an off year election the week after Thanksgiving with libs pouring in a ****-ton of outside money. I will take the W. Not the most compelling candidate, but I would not call van Epps a bad candidate by any means.

Going from a +22 to a +9 in an off-year special election is about what would be expected. This is neither a "blue wave incoming" for the Dems, nor is it "the sky is falling" for the Reps.

This.

Likely a result of a focused GOTV effort by the Dem machine in a concise Nashville area, in an off-cycle election where most republicans in the outlying counties did not participate.

Dems have a narrative that they "closed the gap", but in the end, it really won't mean much when the midterms come around, and everyone is paying more attention.

I suspect this is the true story of this election. I am curious as to the District 17 portion of Davidson County voting numbers and breakdown in the 2024 Presidential election.

Unfortunately, after a number of Google searches on my part, I can find Davidson County results as a whole in 2024, or District 17 as a whole - but not the District 17 portion of Davidson County. I strongly suspect that the Republican turnout of the Dist. 17 portion of Davidson County was significantly more than 9,100 votes in 2024.
