Weird timing, but I've recently heard a couple different women openly talking about porn, having to use VPN's, and even having subscriptions.

I can't imagine how weird or particular someone's tastes must be in order to feel like they need to pay for porn in 2025. But it does feel like a little bit of a cultural shift to hear women openly talking about it.

And no, most of you would not find these women remotely attractive.

Yeah, I don't question how popular romance is. Romantasy would not have blown up like it has if it wasn't. Hell, anyone watching Pluribus on AppleTV right now got to see them making fun of the whole trend in that show. It's been an absolute phenomenon and tells you how big it's gotten. I just find it annoying because women authors have completely taken over the mainstream shelves in book stores.

Another example is GoodReads which is now dominated by women and the slop that they read. Go look at the annual awards they do and women are 8 out of every 10 authors that get nominated.

Regarding these college dudes reading romance, I think you are reading too much into that. They found an angle to get laid and are working the angle. That's all that is....they don't give a **** about reading Romance.

I don't even know what todays porn is like. Late 70s and early 80s? Like the Joy of Sex with more visuals. Some things would work for a couple, some were really uncomfortable.

For some people who are inherently predisposed to having an issue with it, sure. It's like any other activity that provides a dopamine hit. Some folks can handle booze, pot, gambling, porn, whatever, without addiction. Others can't.

Plenty of reasons to demonize pron but I think that the inability of a subset of the population to handle it without getting addicted falls within the same scope as any other potentially addictive activity. And no, I'm not particularly a fan of the stuff overall.

I disagree and I am not a bible beater judging folks. It is horrible for most people long term. People should be focused on their significant other-- Work on making that normal. It is vastly more rewarding long term.
