This officer was as close as you can imagine from possible death so the knee to the head must have been extremely satisfying.

And Walmart manager is pretty bad ass, too.

Edit to change link without profanity.

Shane Newman looks like he could star in the Geiko caveman commercials, without any makeup.

He's lucky he wasn't shot.

Society is unluckily that he wasn't.

Holy s***! That manager was badass to jump in and I agree, that knee to the face had to be extremely satisfying.

Looks like he pulled the trigger on an empty chamber, the tried to rack the slide. Could have been a murder charge if he wasn't a dumbass.
The best way to keep evil men from wielding great power is to not create great power in the first place.

My first thought was "holy sh**, imagine if either that cop or that manager had been female".

Thank God it was two males. Or someone almost certainly would have died or been maimed.

You can clearly hear the dryfire click.

He had an empty chamber, and failed to adequately chamber a round. He tried to rack the slide, but didn't pull it back far enough.

Right after the dry fire, he starts to put the gun down, knowing he was F'd. You can clearly see him react when the pin clicks, prepared for the gun to recoil, which it didn't do.

Then, he does rack it all the way when the gun is between his legs. If there were rounds in that magazine, that gun was hot when he got tackled.

I am thinking that there were not rounds in the gun. It sounds like the gun dryfires AGAIN when he points it towards the cop while the manager has a hold of the kids arms.

Dude was stoned out of his mind. Looked like maybe he was in a K-hole.

Lucky for everyone that no one was killed.

Pulling the trigger on a dryfire is shut and close attempted murder, unless the gun was completely unloaded, in which case it is still likely attempted murder because the kid was too stoned to realize that the magazine was empty.

While that is true, all too often we have bystanders sit there and watch things go down…heck a lot of them are filming the event happen…just proud of him being a proactive member of society.

Probably:
1) Sister, or
2) Foster Mom

A lot of youngish couples sign up to be foster parents for the extra income.

Yeah. That is not how that would have gone down if the guy was truly ready to pull the trigger or the weapon was ready. The manager saved his ass.

Looked to me like the gun was still in the holster and he couldn't get to the trigger. He racked the slide, but you can see the wings of what I think is the holster still sticking out when he is pointing it.

I'm almost certain the guy in the white long sleeve shirt and tie had a Marine Corps tie tack on.

I know every branch has their own thoughts about other branches, but just as an FYI, don't f*%^ with Marines. Old, young, etc, it doesn't matter.

They learn to fight, generally like to fight, and most importantly, probably have a lot of pent up rage they really want to unleash when the moment is right.

Also, I think cops generally have that same pent up anger. That cop showed a lot of restraint. I would have beat that little coward turd senseless.

They should have patted him down before doing paperwork.

Well, to be fair, he might not have been alive to try....if it wasn't for the manager wrestling with the meth head.

Crazy to see that guy make the life choice between a small misdemeanor charge (shoplifting) and a major felony (attempted murder of a cop) on video right in front of your eyes. Some folks are just wired wrong.

Pretty sure that is not the holster. It looks like some kind of attachment, likely a flashlight or laser sight.

And, you can very clearly hear the dry fire, at least once. The kids reaction after the dryfire is a dead giveaway that he was expecting to feel recoil.

I didn't have the volume on, so didn't hear that. I guess that boxy look on the front could be a laser/light of some kind, but it looked too large for that unless it was a laser meant for an AR stuck on a pistol rail or something.

Seriously, what did he think he was doing?! So he was prepared to kill a police officer for arrest in shoplifting?!

Would he have been so glib in thinking that if he knew a fate more like Xerxes of Persia would impose was waiting? What is lacking is daunting deterrence.
