So, what happens if the tanker refuses to "Heave to" and allow the CG to board it? Does the USN get involved? Do we fire across its bow? Any updates as to "current" status? Any Captains or Commanders on board this thread? TIA for any replies.

US Navy often operates with CG boarding teams. This has been common for some time.

Not only in the US and water around the US but also in Persian Gulf and other parts of the World.

The below was from a few years ago in the Gulf of Oman. See first para (US Navy Destroyer) and second para (US CG Interdiction Team).

Navy still has VBSS (Visit, Board, Search, Seize) teams but not often used and instead operate with CG.

Thx. I don't really know much about the 'law of the sea' or why, after getting a judicial ruling authorizing a seizure of the ship in question, US forces can't board with or without permission from the Captain.

Hopefully this delay doesn't go too much longer.

many of these tankers are already illegal and have been on BLACK SANCTIONS list by even the Biden Administration

The tanker was drifting earlier today. I bet we capture the 3rd in the next 24-48 hours. They go through a escalation process. It will evidently lead to warning shot, then they will snipe the rudder or engine block, then boarding, etc
