As reported by Fox.

I didn't see this mentioned elsewhere. Seems like fairly widespread bad behavior. Makes one think HS football is just not a family friendly event anymore. Besides the perps themselves, who is responsible for order and security? The City? The ISD's?
I feel so much better since about 11 a.m. CT on 20 Jan. 2025

I guess add high school State football championship to the list of things to avoid, which already includes Carnival cruises and Spirit airlines.

Imagine being such a troglodyte that you fight at a high school sports game.

The state's HS football has become a complete joke anyway with the ridiculous amount of recruiting. It's the same teams every single year.

In the past, there would be great programs that were always good, but they weren't going to the semis and finals every year. They may have a 2-3 year peak, fall back some for several years, then peak again. Now it's just the same few schools over and over again

I've been to about 8 at Cowboys since they pretty much went to single site there around 2012 (minus a year, I think in Houston). Never saw any such behavior. However, sadly, certain very urban schools who seem (for whatever reason) to have a greater percentage of "fans" that are drawn to this sort of behavior, were playing Saturday.

Fights breaking out at a North Shore/Duncanville game is just about the least surprising thing ever. Call me when the Carroll and Rockwall-Heath fans start fighting.

If you think that's bad you should attend some little league baseball games. People lose their freaking minds…

You won't typically find that BS in the TAPPS championships.

Desoto and Duncanville. Enough said
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

South Oak Cliff v Richmond Randle
DeSoto v CE King
Duncanville v North Shore

On Saturday, AT&T Stadium transformed into a giant Spirit Airlines terminal.

If you want fights, Nimtiz vs Eisenhower or Yates vs Madison. Fights in the stands fights in the parking lots. I remember when Kingwood was throwing hands with Humble. Wild times back in the late 90s.

I had reporters at the UIL state champ games. The engagement usually is pretty high statewide on our site and on our socials, especially for the 5A and 6A schools.

We did will with 1A-3A - record traffic. When SL Carroll lost to Desoto in the semifinals, we lost the best 6A team for news web and app traffic. Nothing on Saturday brought anything near Wall vs Newton (3A) or even Richland Springs vs.. (1A 6-man).

We were worried about safety getting out, so we left earlier than usual.

Here is the QB1 for Wall after defeating Idalou in the quarterfinals. For contrast of the kids we have in west Texas vs the urban areas.

I was at the Aledo-Frisco Lone Star semifinal games and gee not a fight one. Something was different.

We all know about the parents getting jobs in power districts to bring their star players to play for a school, but heard from an AD how some districts do it within the district (not his).

Districts have rigged the system to allow open recruiting to foster one (or two if different divisions) dominate school just for the playoff aspect.

The "lessor" schools /coaching staffs allow their star players leave the home zone school (while still living in their home zone), and go across town to the "district approved school" for sports (football usually). The reciprocal to the staffs, of now sub par teams with little/no talent is that the ADs let them shelter in those spots with horrid records and no hassle for it as long as "the game" is played. Some coaches riding 0-fer or similar records for many years, completely safe. That record usually means demise in this state, but not in those districts.
"Green" is the new RED.

Recruiting by apartment complex. So simple, so stupid.

Little League, and I loved it, had no barriers to entry.
Meaning, that plenty of people that shouldn't even be parents, are half assed parents of kids on your team.

When we were in the same district and later when we weren't every time we played teams like North Shore we had police escorts that stayed with us the entire game.

We had a little league game with one team mainly from the Nimitz area that we had to end early since the parents of the other team were threatening to kill us after one of their players broke his neck by lowering his head. Sad thing is at that time the fans sat on separate sidelines.

I thought the final paragraph wrapped it all up nicely;

As if that's not enough drama out of the Texas HS football state championships, Dallas police say a South Oak Cliff player shot a teammate in the neck after the team's win. The 18-year-old charged in the incident admitted to the shooting.

When a culture of violence is glorified in games and "music" then violence manifests itself in life.

Withholding the school's take of the gate would help.

Unsurprising. Maybe Jasmin can host a town hall and stop the violence.

Somewhere around 4A level you see a dramatic change in the level of sportsmanship. From 1A through 3A, the players help each other up after a tackle. A pat on the helmet. "Good hit" etc. The way it should be.

I wouldn't be caught within 50 miles of AT&T on Saturday's games.
