There is a solution. Ban these schools from UIL competition (all sports) for two years.
A great Aggie I know went to high school in a small North Texas town in the early 60s. His team lost a football game on a controversial late touchdown, and one of their player parents (female) beat the referee over the head with her purse. The school got a 2 year UIL ban as punishment, so his team had to play JV squads or Oklahoma schools.
It won't happen because we all know what the political blowback would be.

You think a school that can't control that behavior the other 364 days of the year will suddenly be able to clamp down on it at the state championship game?
I didn't say it was the only solution. Maybe also make the schools pay for security. and maybe Jerryworld should hire more security for the games and charge the schools/UIL for it.
I know it really isn't UIL's fault, but the cat is fully out of the bag on sports in Texas in the larger classifications. Thankfully, my kids are at a 3A school where it isn't completely ****ed up yet.

While I am for severe punishment of those who act out (the lady with the purse should have gotten a lifetime ban from attending UIL events, which means if she had kids in the system, she never gets to see them play after that incident), but unless the school or coach encouraged her to hit the referee, the wrong people are being punished.
If a coach does it, ban him or her. If a player does it, ban him or her. Not much on punishing those who were not involved in the transgression.

Seems when we had any fights in high school, it was a short bout of fisticuffs. I never saw anyone kicking people that were down on the ground in the face/head, much less repeatedly. Freaking animals.

In the past, there would be great programs that were always good, but they weren't going to the semis and finals every year. They may have a 2-3 year peak, fall back some for several years, then peak again. Now it's just the same few schools over and over again
We all know about the parents getting jobs in power districts to bring their star players to play for a school, but heard from an AD how some districts do it within the district (not his).
Districts have rigged the system to allow open recruiting to foster one (or two if different divisions) dominate school just for the playoff aspect.
The "lessor" schools /coaching staffs allow their star players leave the home zone school (while still living in their home zone), and go across town to the "district approved school" for sports (football usually). The reciprocal to the staffs, of now sub par teams with little/no talent is that the ADs let them shelter in those spots with horrid records and no hassle for it as long as "the game" is played. Some coaches riding 0-fer or similar records for many years, completely safe. That record usually means demise in this state, but not in those districts.
Interesting. In BCS Bryan was traditionally bigger than CS. For years the ISD refused to add another HS supposedly for football reasons. They made the HS 10th through 12th only and kept the 9th graders at another campus as the HS population swelled. They wanted the entire student body to draw from for their football team.

Eh...maybe no fights that resemble the state game, but there was definitely some stuff going down on the field concerning some moms.

During a home HS football game in 1981, we had an incident where an opposing runner was tackled on our sideline, and he rolled into one of our offensive linemen, who proceeded to start kicking this guy.
The officials didn't see it, but it was on film, and the coaches were pissed when they showed this behavior on film day.
That lineman had to run a mile after every practice, full pads with tires over each shoulder.
I promise that the punishment made an impression on everyone of us that coaches weren't kidding about being respectful.
Thursday and Friday games and environment are usually great. I've never been on Saturday.

I mean, the answer is pretty clear. Nearly all violent crime committed by African Americans is by unmarried black men from the ages of 15-40 who grew up without a dad. Correlation doesn't necessarily equal causation but when such a huge sample size can be put in that specific a box it's hard to ignore.

There are tons of affluent suburbs with large black populations/black majorities all over this country and they are all safe. Why? Because they are made up of mostly nuclear black families who themselves were raised by nuclear black families and because of that they got a good education, a good job, make a good living and then themselves got married and had kids.

Things sure have changed over time. My HS was in the same district as Wilmer Hutchins in the late 70s. There were never any issues. Never any fights.
