CEO of Fedex fires US employees and files for many H1Bs.
I believe they just got a Federal contract. So they are using our money to fire Americans and hire Indians.
We are paying for our own destruction.

Shouldn't there be any rules against this? Jail this Rajesh fellow.

FedEx hires hundreds of H-1B workers, fires US staff; Indian-origin CEO questioned

FedEx faces backlash for firing American workers while sharply increasing H-1B hiring after winning a $2.24B federal delivery contract

FedEx received a massive federal delivery contract worth more than $2 billion in late 2022. Not long after that, the company's hiring pattern began to change in a noticeable way. According to the public records cited by The Dallas Express, FedEx dramatically increased its use of foreign workers through the H-1B visa programme, while cutting hundreds of jobs held by American workers in different parts of the country.

FedEx responded to the report by saying it hires based on business needs and skills. A company spokesperson told The Dallas Express that FedEx is focused on helping employees grow and building a workforce according to its operations.

In the current Trump administration, when companies are hesitating to hire H-1B workers due to the hefty $100K fee imposed, FedEx CEO Rajesh "Raj" Subramaniam, who is of Indian origin, is facing backlash for firing Americans to hire foreign workers.
Data from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services H-1B database suggests that in 2022, when the contract was announced, FedEx had roughly two dozen approved H-1B workers. Over the next three years, that number grew to around 500, with the biggest jump in foreign hiring taking place in 2024 and 2025.

Responding to the report, a spokesperson of the company told The Dallas Express, "FedEx is committed to offering employees the opportunity to grow and advance in their careers. Doing so helps our team members thrive, and FedEx prosper. Our strategy is centred around recruiting a skilled workforce that meets our unique business needs and hiring the most qualified candidates."

According to The Dallas Express, in December 2022, the US Transportation Command picked FedEx and two other companies to deliver packages for government agencies. The deal was listed under the Next Generation Delivery Service-2 programme and has a total face value of $2.24 billion, according to GovCon Wire.

The base period of the contract started on April 1, 2023, and will end on September 30, 2026. Some options could extend the work until September 2030. Separate data from a private H-1B salary database shows that some of FedEx's visa applications were for business and technical roles in Texas. The listed pay for these roles generally fell between $100,000 and $115,000.

The same database shows that some applications had planned start dates in cities like Plano at the same time FedEx was reporting layoffs in those areas. Not all visa filings lead to approved hires, so it is unclear how many of those received jobs.

Layoffs across several US states

According to the same report, at the same time as foreign hiring increased, FedEx carried out mass layoffs of US workers. In November 2025, the company announced plans to cut 856 jobs at one of its warehouses. Earlier in the year, 305 positions were eliminated in Fort Worth, followed by another 131 job cuts in Garland and Plano.

The H-1B visa program has become a major political issue in recent months. US Vice President JD Vance publicly urged companies to consider hiring American workers first, saying, "You might try hiring Americans."
Many MAGA commentators and Republican supporters have called for a complete ban on the H-1B system.

At the same time, several prominent business leaders have defended the use of foreign workers. Former DOGE head Vivek Ramaswamy and Tesla CEO Elon Musk have both said that global talent is necessary for the US economy, especially in technology and IT sectors.

I generally like free market ideas, but if US taxpayers are giving subsidies to so-called private companies, it seems ridiculous to permit those same companies just take and not give.

I'm very familiar with this situation.

Take a walk into their IT building in Memphis and tell me what you think.

There are some unhappy people, who they need to keep happy. Curious how this all shakes out over the next few years.

I got hired into a team of basically all H1-B visa holders, a couple talented, a couple not. But it was definitely a case where they needed someone not on an H1-B to avoid lawsuits.

Diversity: A diverse workforce, with 61% of U.S. employees identifying as minorities (FY2023).

So they are running out of minorities to hire, gotta import more.

H-1B needs massive reform because it absolutely being abused to replace Americans in our own country with cheap foreign labor that is often totally unqualified to do the work.

So it's okay to fire American workers and replace them with lower paid H1B1 immigrandians, just as long as I you give the Americans a nice pat on the head and a cookie on the way out the door?

America is full. We need extremely few immigrant work visas. And we certainly don't need any immigrants to do jobs that Americans were already working.

Yea, but how many of those corporations have increased their h1b by 16x in the last few years...

For jobs that pay $100k+ as well.

If you think these actions are okay, even at any #, youre wrong. Furthermore, they are probably turning down white employees to protect their "diverse workplace" %

But its okay, because its only 400? Thats $40,000,000 in wages to non-americans.

Agreed. When American software engineers are being laid off by the thousands, it's tone deaf to ignore that H1B visa holders are part of the replacement solution for these CITIZENS along with offshore outsourcing.

I dunno. It seems self-destructive to not look after your white collar citizens that pay for things with their taxes. These are among the brightest people in the USA. Are they all supposed to pivot to some entrepreneurial gig career?

What is the final picture supposed to be? 80% of your population on some crappy Universal Basic Income scheme that barely keeps a roof over their heads?

FedEx is still the standard...by a wide, wide margin. My guess would be that your local contractor is giving them a bad name in your area (they're indistinguishable, but often not affiliated other than by contract).

UPS is good, but I'm wondering where they're going to be in 5-10 years. I'm guessing they have contraction in the near future.

UPS customer service is infuriating. When you have a problem and need help, you won't talk to someone that can assist you directly. You will get a callback from someone in another country who will "escalate" your case after you take the time to explain the situation often times with a language barrier. And good luck from there if their bureaucracy does find a remedy for you.

FedEx doesn't own them, they're third party owners, as are the drivers. Ran by ISPs (their name).

Is this why FedEx can't accurately update you on when your package will be delivered? My glasses are supposed arrive yesterday between 8:30-10:30, 10:30-12:30, 2:30-4:30; 6:30-8:30, and today between 8:30-10:30, 10:30-12:30 and as of now sometime before 2:30.

I'm worried that my driver, Vladimir (according to the app), is driving the same route today he took yesterday and won't make it here today, either. At this rate I might get them by Saturday.

Good to see the movement catching on here.
Much to the alarm and consternation of the some Boomers who stand to profit from this grift (you can tell from posts).

I don't know why it is so hard. It is clear as mud. CEOs and Pols are in cahoots to take down America to enrich themselves. The only explanation is some people make money out of this. Heck, even I do. A lot of it, so it doesn't make logical sense to many about why I am posting against my own financial interest. I do for our kids and grandkids. We have sold out their futures and left them with no other option other than HVAC guy or electrician gal. Wait, girls don't do electrician work, so she will become a makeup girl at the mall or an OnlyFans model (if hot).

And…..the truth comes out. Of course it's the boomers fault. I was part of the creation and made available the tools you are using now to criticize us. BTW, these tools that are part of your life everyday were condemned at the time for putting people out of work/business.

They do seem to hire the dumbest of the dumb to drive for them these days. From stacking 80lb boxes on top of and crushing lighter boxes, to dropping in the middle of the driveway while it's raining instead of delivering under the porch, to routinely delivering to a random neighbor's house, it's a isht show. I hate when anyone I order from uses FedEx.

Seen a lot of friends complain recently about ambiguous tracking information and parcels that are going to cities that don't make any sense, only to sit idle for days. Then there are all the reports of parcels showing up mangled and damaged. Years ago I had a FedEx parcel show up with box cutter slits about the size of a hand. I suspect some asswipe decided to feel around inside it to see if anything was worth stealing, or maybe they used my box as a drug mule
