Are you kidding me? Kwanzaa is made up nonsense! Liberalism is severe mental illness.

Tell me you're going to be running for president in the next election without telling me you're going to be running for president.

And like anyone with a brain knows, African Americans, like every group, doesn't want to be pandered to with stupid stuff like this, they want to be listened to.

The gods (any and all) help us if he wins. His administration will make Biden's look like Reagans.

Can't wait to watch the video of him addressing the NAACP in his ghetto voice. He's probably practicing everyday.

Might as well since there's been no repercussions when all of the other sleezy Democrats do it.

I would love to see the looks on their faces if someone read the court transcript about the rituals that Ron 'Maulana' Karenga practiced before he created his pseudo holiday.

Quote:

Deborah Jones, who once was given the Swahili title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electrical cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Miss Davis' mouth and placed against Miss Davis' face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vise. Karenga, head of US, also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths, she said."

Karenga was convicted and served more than three years in a state prison.

This was not an isolated incident. In 1967, Karenga was accused of having his thugs beat up a student who asked him an impertinent

No one today knows what Kawanzaa is

Dr. Maulana Karenga, professor and chairman of Black Studies at California State University, Long Beach, created Kwanzaa in 1966. After the Watts riots in Los Angeles, Dr. Karenga searched for ways to bring African Americans together as a community. He founded US, a cultural organization, and started to research African "first fruit" (harvest) celebrations. Karenga combined aspects of several different harvest celebrations, such as those of the Ashanti and those of the Zulu, to form the basis of the week-long holiday.

So Academia was worthless in the 60s too. Good to know

It originated in Wakanda where the black race is the most intelligent, powerful, loving and unified place in all the world.

Why would you celebrate a first fruits harvest in winter(or summer in the southern hemisphere?) If he wanted to tie it to Christmas it should be a winter solstice celebration. But since most African Nations are close to the equator, a winter solstice is meaningless to them.

Although when is first fruits when you only have wet and dry seasons.

Looked it up and varies what month by region. So our professor only culturally appropriated Zulus.( Southern Africans) Where most African Americans are from Central and Western Africa.

Linking Kwanzaa and Juneteenth isn't fair. Now, I had no idea and was totally surprised to learn that Juneteenth had been made a national holiday, but it had been a solid Texas one for black people my entire life, and I knew the origin of it and why black people gathered to celebrate it. I'm guessing most lifelong Texans of any race knew what it was.

Yes it should only be a Texas holiday. The federal government got wind of it and wanted time off too.

"as families come together to light the kinara ..."

Ha ha ha!

Kwanza has the kinara and Hanukkah has a menorah. Feels like a half assed attempt at plagiarizing another cultures tradition. If they were white, then it would be known as cultural appropriation.

My company, that has a global HQ based in the United States, has a corporate holiday for Juneteenth, but not for Good Friday of US employees.

Do you know who does have good Friday as a corporate holiday? Our employees in India, where they have a sub 3% population of Christians.

I wasnt at this company in 2020, but I have a feeling they dropped Good Friday for Juneteenth.

If anything, give both, but what the hell? 2/3 of the people in our country identify as Christian and they gave the fake BLM national holiday instead.

For Karenga (the creator of Kwanzaa), a figure in the Black Power movement of the 1960s and 1970s, the creation of such holidays also underscored the essential premise that "you must have a cultural revolution before the violent revolution. The cultural revolution gives identity, purpose, and direction."
