Liberals unleash chaos and misery anywhere they have control, turning thriving societies into dystopian wastelands of crime, decay, and despair.

When Walmart gives up, it's bad.

I remember when the small Walmart in Hearne was closed due to employee and customer theft. At that point, it was the first one ever to close. Of course by that time all of the Mom and Pop stores there had closed because they couldn't compete on the prices.

Portland is too good for Walmart. Getting rid of Walmart is by design.

Serves them right.
I was watching the Goonies the other night. So much theft. Even in the 80s.
I'm glad one-eyed Willie booby-trapped that place and then cheated death.

Yep, Libs will say Walmart leaving is a good thing and that Target should be moving in any time now. But, they won't.

This. So tired of this tripe. It's a thieving demographic that makes it impossible to make money, and when combined with white libs in the DAs office whose racial guilt forgives it, it's a disaster for business owners

I visited Portland once. In 1998. To interview with Intel.

Now Intel also has gone to hell.

I used to laugh at Hearne for this story then I had a client there and got to know some of the local business community. After some time I came to it's a source of pride. I really didn't get the sense anyone was embarrassed by it.

Well, community pride swells in your chest when your DA gets sent to jail for stealing $200k from a little ol' Jewish lady's estate.

How about the community members don't commit theft and the free market determines where people want to shop? People should be extremely embarrassed by their community if a major business and employer has to close because people can't quit pilfering.

Kind of what I thought. Just telling you that 30 years later from my very anecdotal experience they don't see it that way. Wal Mart decimated plenty of small towns and Hearne was one of them. In their case Hearne returned the favor. Not justifying anything.

The one in Robstown met a similar demise. More went out the back than out the front.

Robstown is pretty sketchy. We fly out of the airport there and driving through parts of that town reminds me of Mexico...and not the tourist part.

Gotta give it to Wal-Mart. I mean, at least they tried. A blind man could have seen this coming, but still, they tried.

We moved to Young County about 12 years ago. I went to the Walmart in Graham to pick up a prescription and said I would pay for it with the groceries. They said I had to pay at the pharmacy, and I asked why. They said they did an audit, and they lost $30.000 in one month to theft. They found receipts and the bags they place the prescriptions in all over the store. I understand most, if not all, Walmarts now have that policy, but at that time the one we used in Highland Village did not.

I just got back from a 5-year stint in Oregon and the only time I ever spent in Portland was either for work or to pick someone up at the airport. When there for work, I was appalled at the homeless community and their complete DGAF attitude. I stayed at the Hyatt across the street from the convention center and actually saw people taking dumps on the sidewalk (multiple times) and also dumping out trash cans to look for food and bottles/cans to return for the $0.10 deposit as well as dumping out cigarette bins to look for smokable butts.

The "fentanyl lean" was a common sight any time of day as well. I lived in Eugene and it wasn't terribly better. Pretty much everything that could be locked up at the Walmart was locked up. I felt like I had a personal shopper one day went I had to have someone escort me around so I could get underwear, a flea collar for the dog, and something from the sporting goods department all out of locked cabinets.

My first and only time in Portland was in 2008 before it all went to ***** It was a really cool town back then when their leftism was quirkier and eclectic and less militant and autocratic.

I did offend a beggar who was the most well-dressed beggar I've ever seen. He was wearing luxury name brand clothing and accosted me outside of a drug store and asked me for $5. $5!!! I was a bit incredulous by the whole exchange and laughed at him and walked on. He yelled something at me I don't recall.

Sounds like Austin before it went from "weird" to cluster-eff Woketopia.

Sucks that places that are a little "off," but in a fun way go to crap thanks to the radical-left.

So now Hearne residents drive to the WalMart in Bryan. Not only is Hearne losing the theft opportunity, they are losing sales tax too.
