Here's a selected list:

Senate Bill 8 - mandates sheriffs work with ICE and provides some grants to help pay back the added law enforcement expenses.

HB 9 - exempts $125k of a business's inventory (up from $2,500).

SB 38 - anti squatters bill to speed up evictions.

HB 149 Tx Responsible AI Governance Act - bans on AI for self harm, crime, etc. Look for federal legislation to supersede this eventually. Creates a new Texas AI Council to oversee state regs.

HB 2067 - insurance companies must say in writing why they declined to cover someone.

SB 2420 - certain apps have to verify a user's age (TRO in place by a federal judge atm).

And more!

I am interested in SB 38, wondering how much it actually works

How will SB 8 play out when we have another Marxist in the White House who is using ICE to import illegals?
No, I don't care what CNN or Miss NOW said this time

I guess they'll just stop helping the deportations and the grant funds will dry up, if and when that day comes. Seems like it's primarily designed to get criminals out.

As a business owner, I like SB 9. That's a pretty significant increase in the exemption.

I think it's the app stores that have to verify and they share the data with the app developers. So you're now going to have to have an ID to access the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Then the app developer of a weather app will be able to tell the exact age of the user. Still amazed that "conservatives" supported this one.

Probably emboldened because of the adult content sites requirement.

Pretty sure it was warned as the next step, but so many wanted to protect the children with worthless regs.

I was an early adopter of that warning. But all the pro-theocracy schlubs around here said they wanted to be governed harder.
