Are we paying for this?

I have no problem with Israel buying any arms they want, as long as I'm not financing it.

No. We're not paying for it. We're just authorizing it. Israel is paying.

I'm not so sure. We have a 10 year $38B MOU with them.

Israel pays. It's the same with every country we sell to. Side note: This is just the upfront cost for the aircraft, spares, and initial services agreement. There's a lot of money in the decades of follow on support contracts that keep many US medium and small businesses going. Contracts from Boeing, the US government, or the Israeli government / proxy Israeli businesses.

Which, per Google, is the custom Israeli variant of the F-15EX. Israel is getting some great planes.

I get what you are saying but still, we give them almost $4 Billion a year in aid.

Technically, they're the F-15IA model...but, it's probably semantics, because we let them have almost all of our good tech.

I'd rather we pay them to take out the trash in that neighborhood than have our own boots on the ground?

I don't want us there. I'd rather send money. We are sending a lot of money however.

I hear that. I also see that they are in an unfortunate part of the world, geographically-speaking. Every one of their neighbors that wants to kill them would love to come kill us. My opinion, better to stop it there than have it lapping at our borders unchecked (debatable if we nearly lost that one, given the last admin, but still).

Bottom line we sell them a lot of our (mostly legacy) stuff that funds our most advanced new development programs. Shouldn't be lost that they also sell their tech to us. See companies like Elta and Elbit and how much content they have on US weapon platforms.

At the end of the day it's easy to get hung up on a dollar figure and I agree it should be scrutinized, but I can't imagine just "cutting them off" as some would suggest. Israel and Ukraine are not the same, in terms of being strategic long term partners in a high technology world with bad actors who have increasingly lower barriers to entry with said tech.

Which they use to buy our products/weapons with. How much of each years $4B is going to these new F-15's is buried in a spreadsheet somewhere. Israel does buy lots of Mil Equip from us every year. But, Israel makes up the diff., often by selling us their mil equipment. Crazy world we have built.

1) Sell them whatever they want, as long as they pay us.

2) We should be sending them $0.00 dollars.

3) We should let them handle their business how they see fit. No more leash.

4) Profit. Literally.

it's actually the OPPOSITE

the Israelis take the F-35 and put in their OWN ISRAELI TECH after working out a deal with Lockheed Martin

We've engaged in Arms Sales to Israel for DECADES. Some tidbits:

Quote:

On August 13, the Biden administration notified Congress of potential $20.3408 billion in arms sales to Israel via the Foreign Military Sales process, including:
https://www.forumarmstrade.org/bidenarmsisrael.html

We sold them arms in the 60s-2010s. There hasn't been an administration since at least LBJ that hasn't done some sort of like business with Israel.

The F-15EX is essentially the upgraded F-15QA Boeing built for the Qatari's first (and then the "SA" version for the Saudis) but with the epawss added for the USAF. The Saudi's/Qatari's have a slightly different sensor (Bae-sourced) and the Israeli's, very likely will also use a bit of different kit as they tend to customize everything to include more IAI/Elbit systems etc. to their own liking (I think even with their F-35's).

This is good for Boeing in St Louis, but notably they are also in the process of ramping up both T-7 production there (I think) and also the upcoming F-47 next year. Not sure what 'new facilities' are involved in that (they also build/built everything from the A-4, and F-4 to the F/A-18 and Harriers there), but busy times for that crew.

Given the fact that we have given Israel $174 billion in aid, then I would say, we have already paid for it in advance. The good thing is that our aid returned to us is adding to our economy.

Giving Israel a lot of our tech allows THEM to do actual combat testing of it. I'm sure we get most of that data back for future improvements of OUR tech.

How did we get this many replies without talking about what is really going on here. We started giving direct military aid to Egypt and Israel as part of the Camp David Accords. We always give Israel more aid than Egypt. Both of them use the dollars to buy US weapons systems. Egypt has a huge fleet of M-1s.

You can argue the policy but it has been in effect for my entire lifetime.

I'm good with Israel paying for this.

My only question is, are they (Israel) paying for it with the money we give them, or are they using their own money for this because the money we give them every year isn't enough on its own to cover this cost, so they need to use their own money when they run out of ours?

Anyone with knowledge on this, feel free to share, por favor.
There are in fact two things, science and opinion; the former begets knowledge, the later ignorance. Hippocrates

I mean, sure, kinda, but that is lacking some context since Egypt had their whole islamic brotherhood-Obama/Clinton turn of events in the past 20 years (and before that had long split their buys between Soviet-American gear). They are also replacing their F-16's with Chicom fighters.

The real irony, to me, is that said J-10 fighter was really the first 'modern' Chinese fighter, and developed from…Israeli assistance after we helped (meaning paid for; at one point 25% of our aid was going to this project) Israel develop their Lavi fighter from the F-16 itself.

War is big business, and always involves politics. The very first Israeli combat aircraft were, after all, Me-109's.

Ha Ha, I've just got a big PR flag on the back of my Jeep Wrangler underneath my Corps and Aggie Band stuff.

I also have a Bad Bunny sticker I bought 3 years ago but have never put it on. I'll probably wait until after the Super Bowl for that.

I have no issue with this. It's up front and transparent. They are an ally in an absolute **** part of the world that does a lot of the dirty work we'd have to do.
I'm much more concerned with deep state taxpayer funded corrupt money that we don't even realize is happening.
