The UN better be careful for they may be next.

The only realistic enforcement mechanism for UN policy is….the US military.
So, we do as we feel the need to do, and the UN can whine but they know they are impotent and now trying to shame us into compliance is no longer working.

This has been one of the outstanding issues in the world since WWII
Global Politicians relying on stern words without following through with any real consequences
Only emboldens the Castros, Khameini and their ilk

Well to be fair, Venezuela and Cuba are much smaller targets. Easy to execute. Like a practice drill.BlackGold said:
Isn't it kind of crazy we went into Venezuela, first, and not Mexico, if it were actually about the drugs. I think there are 8 cartels on the terror list and 7 of them are in Mexico. State Dept. also added cartel de los soles 2 months ago. Now we're talking about doing the same thing to Cuba next. I think that indicates it's not about the drugs. It's a good excuse to avoid having to go to Congress for a declaration of war though which is pretty smart.
That was a stupid thing for Trump to say and even more stupid for anyone that believed it. I mean like "D" dumb.Sad Aggie Fan said:Jeeper79 said:

I doubt they would do anything. Remember when Trump was going to build a wall and have Mexico pay for it and that never happened?

We're not deposing a democratically elected president. But we might start bombing cartels on Mexican soil without permission.

Our company used to do a lot of business in the EU, the Euros are stupid and have ruined their countries with stupid regulations that are giving all their business to counties like China. Most Euro men don't have a set of balls these days, their nutts are smaller than the nuts on a small rodent like a possum.

This. The leader of the Mexican cartel is the one that is probably worried.

Um, what?!
PeMex says "Hola, guey!".
Pemex has been in decline for over 2 decades due to aging fields, underinvestment, corruption and slowing drilling activity. There's a reason Mexico is a net importer of refined products and it's because Pemex has gone to ***** Now, Mexico DOES have proven reserves but they rank 17th in the world in that regard, so going after Mexico for their oil isn't really worth it.
Venezuela, on the other hand, has massive oil reserves plus the bonus of precious metals and rare earth minerals. Enough that indicting their president and then arresting him is worth the trouble. Plus it breaks up the Cuba-Venezuela relationship and jabs a stick in China's eye. There are a LOT of reasons to force regime change in Venezuela.

"Don't have oil" isn't the same as "don't have as much oil as Vz".

I think it is high time to start against the cartels in Mexico with military violence.
The reaction to this by Mexicans and Mexican sympathizers in both Mexico and the United States is necessary to draw the line in the sand and establish which side of the narco-state they really want to support.
Who are the "good" Mexicans and Latino Americans? We need to find out.
I believe if push comes to shove, we'll find that a great majority of these people would rather have opportunity for prosperity through hard work and a lawful society than the lawless cartel run narco-state they have now.
