Maybe I'm just crazy, but that sure seems to make sense to me?

I have a close friend who's a retired police officer in Phoenix that had a scenario like these stories coming out in the news. He was a high school resource officer at the end of his law enforcement career.
Long story short he had to tell a pissed off mom and dad that were causing problems in the school office to leave the property. He had to get a little aggressive with the dad and usher him to the door. So, pissed off mom and dad decide to find his police vehicle in the parking lot and wait for him to come out of the school. As he is walking across the parking lot, pissed off mom and dad try to mow him down with there car, He pulls his weapon and has it aimed at the driver, and then looks over drivers shoulder and sees a baby car seat in the back of the vehicle with an infant in it, a total nightmare scenario for him. He jumps onto the hood of a car next to him to avoid getting hit and calls for backup..
He says he'll never get the image of that infant in the back seat behind the driver out of his head. He was a second away from pulling the trigger and could have killed the baby.
The parents were illegals, and I guess they thought he was some sort of rent a cop and not an actual police officer with any kind of authority to throw them out of the school so they decided to get revenge...
