No new taxes but a huge new expense.

That does not add up.

They are raising taxes in corporations, not citizens, which will work out great I'm sure.

Forget the financial expense this albatross will cost.

I'm sitting here perplexed at how the state will manage the bloated logistics. LaQuesha can't be expected to take her precious bundle of joy 10+ miles on the subway to get to the nearest care facility. Or are they going to convert already overcrowded classrooms from schools to daycare units?

New York State has approximately 1.1 to 1.4 million children aged 0-5.

I guarantee you the dumbas*** haven't bothered to think this far ahead. They've been campaigning and selling stupid ideas with no idea how to implement them logistically or what the cost will be. A program like this will break the state of New York. My guess is that it will get implemented on a small scale, cost a fortune, and never work out like they promised.

I hope businesses and high income individuals pack up and leave the state and make their budget problems so overwhelming that their foolhardy experiment with communism is short lived.

The main highlights (or lowlights, depending on POV):
"Gov. Kathy Hochul unveiled a sweeping plan Thursday to provide free child care for children under five throughout New York State"

"Hochul announced a partnership with Mamdani to provide free child care for 2-year-olds in New York City, with the state covering the full cost of the first two years of the initiative without raising any new taxes."

"All told, nearly 100,000 additional children would be eligible for child care, pre-K, subsidies or other community programs, the governor's office said. Fully universal child care is expected to be available throughout New York by 2030."
