I still can not gauge what I am allowed to do to deter an aggressive antagonist if I am in a blue state, blue city and the local police only enforce what the ruling politicians desire.

Saw a video clip of a Trump supporter carrying a flag , being hounded by a pack of Antifa types. This group were in his safe space, they closed the gap whenever he stepped away, they used megaphones and were screaming in the mans face…..and the cops do not intervene.

In the work place, I have to wear ear plugs, and eye protection or my employer is held accountable for any preventable injuries that may occurs. Safety demands that all threats be mitigated and if not……accountability comes next. My point is…..if the govt is trying apply a low threshold for employees health and protection…..why is it those same threats in open public do not receive the same level of concern, enforcement and prosecutions as the work place.

Why is it that folks who are in a space they have legal rights to be, showing support for a cause and being civil and we can constantly see on videos showing them being threatened by antagonists who will not stop. In fact the escalate by putting loud devices close to their ears to disrupt/harm hearing and further creates situations where one could get injuries to one eyes.

I mention all this because the moment you legally defend yourself you are the one who suffers the consequences….not the antagonist. At some point you should be able to strike back and defend yourself.

This is not the entire video from the first part. He had a megaphone with an ear-piercing sound shoved in his ear repeatedly for a good while before reacting.

He did react to the one doing it to him, then the others wanted to get a piece of him and they did. His fist, repeatedly.

Not across the line at all. He was being assaulted, constantly retreated, yet they kept coming. Even after the first punch in defense. He was well within his rights to escalate his response until they stopped

This response helps me with what I wanted to asks. From a general sense, setting the stage for everything that you said….like Derek Chauvin. If some guy seeks you out, poked you within inches of your face, slaps a phone out your hand, light off a fog horn near your ears and is relentless in doing so……and no one is coming to your aid causes you to defend yourself, I would assumed laws on the books would say I would be able to defend myself.

Best hope if you feel you are ever in a situation where you have to defend yourself that it is thoroughly videoed if you take action, especially with lethal force, depending on the state. It's unfortunate really, but it's the safest bet the way the laws work now..

Kyle Rittenhouse probably wouldn't be free today without the video evidence clearly showing self defense. None of the eye witnesses really mattered in that trial, it was all he said, she said. They wanted to railroad him, but the video evidence made it impossible, and the prosecution seemed like they knew they didn't have a case but were being forced to try and convict him for political reasons.

Those guys got exactly what they deserved but I'm concerned for him legally due to the timing of his first punch. He didn't appear to be in any imminent danger, the guy was bending over, can't quite tell why. Great timing to land the haymaker, but legally I question whether he has a right to self defense at that moment. I'm also curious after he retreated, is everything after that considered self defense or if the initial punch makes everything else assault (assuming the first punch is considered).

I'm guessing he's screwed in Minnesota.

100%. There is no question that legally fits the definition of both a civil and criminal assault, and he was entitled to retaliate.

Unfortunately he lives in a leftist state, so there are no guarantees he won't be prosecuted and imprisoned anyway. Move to a red state.
