Almost all of these people do.

That is the intent of the program - a lottery system to get people into the US (regardless of their talent/education level etc.) help them become productive, and enhance America's reputation globally as the land of opportunity + foster goodwill. I've seen this happen anecdotally.

Without going into the merits of the program, there should be a minimum time period after which you are off government assistance. For many, this doesn't happen. Because if you were lazy in your shi$hole, you are lazy in America.

This is a great step.

I don't buy the welfare line several of these countries have average household incomes above the US average meaning they are paying above average taxes and receiving below average welfare. Also if we are talking welfare and ignoring Mexico it seems kind of silly, though I can understand why a ban there does more harm than good.

Agreed. Show me mass amounts of Thais, Cambodians and Laotians on welfare in the US. That is just Trump messing with them with thier ongoing border dispute.
