Districts #10 and 11, central Texas, almost laughable in boundaries.

TX taking lessons from Illinois, California, etc.

I guess they figured out they need to play by the same rules as dems do, where they can.

Democrats once passed this map in order to hold control of the Texas House delegation.

They thus lost the right to complain about gerrymandering for eternity.

Every state jerrymanders. The problem you have is that the Republicans are finally doing it.

Gonna be done all over again in the few years when Texas picks up 3-4 additional seats.

Agreed. This Jerrymandering isn't (D)ifferent and that is the problem

Hopefully there is not a single district where a Marxist Democrat can win anymore. They are killing the country.

You come to TexAgs thinking that AGGIES will share your angst that Austin voters will be subordinated to rural voters?!?

OF COURSE we support minimizing sip representation! Those CA transplants are insane!

I'm not a huge fan of gerrymandering, but unless there's a nationwide moratorium (which I'm not sure how you do short of constitutional amendment), you're just putting yourself at a disadvantage if you eschew it, since the opposing party certainly won't hesitate.

Making more and more districts safe for incumbents and placing more emphasis on the primaries gives power to both ends of the political spectrum and less to the middle, which is a mistake IMO.

When will we get back our representation California stole with the 2020 census?

Nothing wrong with gerrymandering and every state should do it. In fact, it's difficult to NOT gerrymander if the goal - pushed by anti-gerrymanderers - is to make 50/50 districts.

Most of these wonky districts exist because of the voting rights act mandates minority representation.

But don't worry OP, that's about to go away.

Agreed but we are in a national Prisoner's Dilemma at this point due to what Claude said. We have to do it or the country is lost. Texas is the bulwark for the country at this point.

Understatement. California votes over 30% Republican yet has less than 10% representation. And they just passed legislation to bring that down further

New England is about the same yet has almost 0 Republican representatives.

This is sad but true. The only option to save the country. Beware of Republicans that want to compromise. The Democrats only have to win one more election and it's over.

If it gets people to pay more attention to the primaries that seems like a good thing to me. In large part people know which party is going to win in any particular district but people need to go look at the voting (and ethics) record of incumbents and if they aren't particularly impressed push for a primary challenger that more matches their values.

Gerrymandering is the cause of a lot of our problems. It drives politician too far to the right or left and makes them beholden to leadership on each side.

According to FairVote, regarding the upcoming 2026 election::

  • 352 of 435 (81%) seats have already been decided, and are "safe" for one party. We project only 38 (9%) true tossups, with another 9% of seats "leaning" either Democrat or Republican.
American not as polarized as Washington. Texas is bluer than many of you care to admit; just as California is a lot redder than many assume.

I didn't hear a peep from Dems about how gerrymandered She Jack's district is, so honestly I don't give a crap now either.

Edit...should've said how it "was".

Lots of things in politics are bi-partisan.

Gerrymandering is one of the main ones.

Both parties love it!!

They don't always agree on the specifics of HOW districts are gerrymandered, but they akwats agree THAT they are gerrymandered. They are in this together.
