Everything the right does is a response to the left.

A proactive conservative republican would be the liberals and moderates worst nightmare.

This ain't going the way OP thought it would....

BSC, blinders on Republicans are (almost) as scary as mainstream Democrats. But not quite.
None of the responses changes the ridiculous boundaries of District 10 & 11.

I also think we need to substantially increase the total number of congressional representatives to decrease the number of people each one represents. I would suggest tripling it.

When it was set at 435 in 1929 the population of the US was about 122 million, we are now at 342 million.

I don't think we can support that many politicians.

I might regret sharing this, but I put together a spreadsheet showing breakdowns of HOR reps in 2024 and results in the 2024 presidential election. It gets misleading with smaller states. Montana for example has two seats, both republican. They voted 60% for Trump, so by raw numbers and simple math having 1 rep and 1 dem would be closer to "fair". Same situation in reverse with Rhode Island. Smaller states tend to show larger discrepancies in this manner, but for larger states the numbers should more closely match presidential voter breakdown, if things are "fair".

It compares what the "fair" distribution of reps would be if representation matched voter patterns for president. Shocking nobody, California is the most heavily gerrymandered state by a lot, with Illinois being a definite second.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1j7pErW8-oXp1ZoT2d53hzMv9goq1pk3vSLXgfin71ng/edit?usp=sharing

Let me know if it doesn't pull up

Districts #10 and 11, central Texas, almost laughable in boundaries.

Go test your hypothesis. What percentage of Texas voters cast their ballots for Republicans and what percentage of house seats did Republicans get. Then go do a blue state like Illinois. You'll find that Texas congressional districts have one of the lowest bias rates in the country.

I don't have a hypothesis...just savvy enough to know actual representation is diminished, when your location is disconnected from the main boundaries. And the only Dem I ever voted for, was on the County Commish level, back before the Dems went BSC. And that Commish is now a solid Republican.
No doubt states like Illinois and California have the Republican voters feeling "unaccounted for".
Since you don't have a hypothesis let me give you one. Texas has one of the least biased congressional maps in the country.

Texas Congressional vote share: 58.4% R.
Texas Congressional representation: 65.8% R
Texas congressional bias: 7.4% R

Illinois Congressional vote share: 52.8% D.
Illinois Congressional representation: 82.4% D
Illinois congressional bias: 29.6% D

The 2026 midterms will (should) reflect additional gains made by TX R's, and it's no surprise a state led by the Chicago thugs has a Dem stronghold. Cook County/Chicago dominates that state, which has been losing Congressional seats every census.

I don't live in Texas but heard something about a special election in Fort Worth yesterday flipping a republican district to the democrats by a wide margin. Is that true?

Yes. The dem won the special election by a wide margin. There will be a rematch in November for the 4 year term.
