It was acquired by LifeTouch. The last studio was closed in 2011, according to the google.

You're surprised that parents don't want their kids photos taken by a company ran by a pedophile? Are you also surprised that farmers want to keep foxes out of their henhouse?
The guy has been gone from the company for ~5 years.
What if you don't want to support the businesses of pedophiles? Is that a good enough reason, or does the actual photographer need to be a pedophile?
So, if an employee of let's say Bank of America gets arrested for child rape, does that mean the entire company is guilty and should be boycotted and shut down?
Fantastic. Only took a few replies to get "Exibit A" for OP's premise.Iced-T14 said:

You're being obtuse. Your argument is ridiculous. There's clearly a difference a Bank of America employee (like a teller) and the CEO of the company, but you already know that. It's clear that Leon Black is no longer the CEO of Apollo, but has he divested of all ownership? If not then he still has a financial tie to Lifetouch.
There's a reason why the Weinstein Company went bankrupt and there's a reason why Subway removed Jared Fogle as a spokesman. These were high profile people, just like Leon Black.
There's a difference between not wanting to support a business that unknowingly hired a low-level employee that was a pedophile, and not wanting to support a business that was founded and run by a pedophile. Hope this helps.

Ive long thought these yearly school photos are weird and a potential issue, irrespective of who is running the company.
Also having a laugh at your internet crusade to "stamp out this stupidity". You're not going to tell anyone which cameras to put their kids in front of

I do have a problem with people's livelihoods being harmed by completely irrational mob mania. This is a message board for people to share opinions. I wish I could laugh at the stubborn stupidity of people.

Oh the drama. I'm sure a few parents at a small private school are going to put Lifetouch out of business.
Even if they did, it would open up a market for more personalized, local photographers. I thought the free market was popular around here

This isn't confined to one school. You want the free market affected by completely dishonest and irrational smear campaigns?
I want people to make decisions that aren't based on outrageous fear mongering and slander. It's better for society.

That's what the free market is. What's dishonest and irrational to you is perfectly rational to others, and they get to make their own choices. I just told you my reticence with these photos far predates any kind of Epstein hysteria.
Anyways I'm going to stop rolling in the mud here. If you want to make a bet that Lifetouch is going to shut its doors this year thanks to this "mania" I'm happy to take the other side of it

Do you people not understand how ludicrous you're being. Can you imagine founding a company and turning it into a successful business that got bought by a larger company, which was in turn owned by yet another larger business, then it was learned that decades ago the CEO of the larger business had ties to Epstein. Suddenly, your company which had nothing to do with Epstein is in jeopardy because of irrational mob mania that has turned otherwise intelligent people into morons that refuse to do business with you because they're worried about pedophiles looking at their kids' pics.

I'm sure there are other photography companies that schools can use. It's strange that you're falling all over yourself to support this one. Strange hill to die on.
It's pretty simple in my book. Was Leon Black or the company he founded ever associated with Lifetouch and did he ever receive monetary benefit from the association? If so, can't hurt to distance oneself. This is just my opinion. If you don't mind the association, then support the company. It's a free country.

Most people aren't capable of thinking rationally when emotions might be involved.
Although in situations like this I think it's a double whammy. "Don't rape kids" is such an easy hill to plant a flag on that some people will take it to extremes in order to proclaim their virtue. Which is how a lot of these conspiracies start.
