This one was when he said he had a first edition of Mein Kampf printed in English. Just stupid crap the district heard before. They'll probably try to say he hates veterans also.

1. Please tell voters about yourself.
I was born and raised in San Antonio. I am 40 years old. I was raised by my mom and attended NEISD schools, graduating from Lee High School in 2003. I earned a B.S. in Education from UT-Austin in 2007. After college, I served as a teacher in Northside ISD specializing in ESL, Special Education, and Gifted and Talented education for primary students.
I earned a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2013. My law practice focuses on representing children in the foster care system. I have served on the Bexar County Child Welfare Board since 2017, most recently appointed by County Judge Peter Sakai.
I have been married to my husband, Austin, since 2013 and we reside in Leon Springs. Austin is a career prosecutor with the Bexar County DA's office. We have four young children who attend Northside ISD schools.

2. Briefly describe your top policy priorities.

The cost of living and raising a family is climbing dramatically. We must have a fair economy and that starts with a fair tax code. I don't believe we should be giving billionaires tax cuts at a time when we are debating whether vulnerable children should have food provided by SNAP benefits. We need a tax code which empowers the middle class and raises people from poverty into the middle class.

I believe our country should make historic investments in universal Pre-K, which would provide a solid educational foundation for the next generation of Americans and provide much needed relief to working families. I believe we should invest in families and strengthen our workforce by requiring paid parental leave which can be supported by utilizing current unemployment insurance programs.

3. What should Congress be doing to rein in inflation and/or stabilize/boost the economy?

First of all, Congress must re-assert its Constitutional authority over tariffs and pass legislation which regulates the President's ability to unilaterally implement tariffs. The Trump Tariffs are raising costs for everyone and driving inflation. History has proven that a tax code which empowers the middle class leads to economic growth. History has also shown that a tax code which prioritizes tax cuts for billionaires leads to economic calamity.

4. What should Congress be doing to reform immigration laws?

Congress must take bold and bipartisan action on immigration. Congress has completely ceded its authority to the President, who is enacting an enforcement-only policy with no long term solution. These policies are sowing fear in our communities and are inherently un-American. We have always been a nation of immigrants and our laws should reflect that. We need to provide reasonable pathways to citizenship for our neighbors who are living and working here. We can have reasonable and humane immigration laws and secure our border.

5. At a time when the White House is asserting more control over national security and spending without Congress' input, how would you handle disagreements over the division of power?

Congress has constitutional authority, it is just choosing not to assert it for political reasons. Congress has oversight authority over the Executive Branch and it should utilize it. When the President or another executive branch official refuses to follow the law, Congress must assert its authority. Congress should take aggressive action toward any individual who breaks the law and refuses to comply with lawful orders of Congress.

6. The past year has brought tremendous uncertainty to many Americans surrounding rising health insurance premiums and lack of access to medical care near their homes. What do you believe Congress should be doing to make health care affordable and accessible to residents in your state?

I support expanding our Medicare system to cover all Americans. Short of that, I think we should strengthen the Affordable Care Act so that it actually works as intended. Given the position of the current Supreme Court, however, the ACA is greatly undermined by the ability of state Republicans to reject federal assistance. I also support greatly expanding federal community health centers in both rural and urban areas.

I'll be voting for Herrera but I'll be shocked if District 23 doesn't flip back to the dims.

We'll be going from Will Heard and Tony G. who voted with Trump 95+% of the time to someone who will vote with Trump 0 %. This is likely going to be a lesson in being careful about what you ask for because
you just might get it.

District 23 was +15 for Trump in 2024, I don't think a flip is likely.

Your last paragraph probably stands whether Tony dropped out or not. His affair came out early and snowballed from there. I'd say we're lucky to have an R candidate at all. I also think Brandon will win. He will probably have a large influx to his warchest now. The Dems are replaying Tony's old strategy except the people have already been through it before and it didn't work then (no matter how hard rinos tried).

I've lived in the District a long time and conservatives have generally not done well. The district usually bounces back and forth between dims and Republicans

And let me state the obvious - Herrera is no Trump.

I think Brandon has got a shot if he can pivot away from emphasizing 2nd amendment rights and focus on maintaining border security.

He needs to paint Stout as someone who opposes deporting criminal aliens and who will fight to open up the border again.

If Herrera continues to wave rifles around hanging out of a helicopter as his main image, he's going to get clobbered.

Anyway, I'll be writing him a check soon and voting for him in November.

The 2025 redistricting made it more Republican and much less likely for a Democrat to win.

that's a shame.
