I occasionally get the "black box" wine because it won't spoil after you have a glass. It's been $20 per box for the last 20 years but now you can find it for $16.

I've noticed my favorite brand of bourbon about 20% cheaper... for several months. Not a one-time thing.

You know, I think the younger generations don't know what true stress is and that's why they drink less on average. They have learned to whine, complain, and ask for help instead of sucking it up and fixing their own problems.

Half serious, half not.

I also hear the weight loss drugs reduce your desire to drink somewhat as well.

Additionally, younger drinkers don't drink wine. They drink seltzers, etc.

The good news is that California gets hammered. Sorry, but California is the devil's land.

I wish the good wineries would do box wine for that reason. An opened bottle goes bad in a day.

Fewer. Fewer Boomers, not less.

All true, and I'll add they likely saw more high functioning alcoholics than any other generation as it's a common problem with boomers.

You're not wrong.

Last time I was in the Hill Country I hit half a dozen wineries and all their wines tasted the same. It makes sense, seeing as they all mostly get their juice from the same place up in the Panhandle.

I can get better wine for the and price or less at HEB.

Partly due to people not drinking as much, but also because of retaliatory tariffs/embargoes on US spirits. All that booze that would normally be shipped out is now sitting in warehouses stateside. And it's not making money sitting in a warehouse, so prices come down to move it.
Also, the bourbon craze seems to have run its course. Some things that used to be allocation only are now on the shelf.

Typical boomers destroying everything that made America great. Literally Hitler generation.

Wife and I aren't helping as Gen X'ers. Wife quit drinking in 2019 and my drinking has fallen catastrophically.

We used to drink as much wine as several of you put together.

Nah, they aren't drinking liquor either: Major spirits brands sitting on $22 Billion in inventory

Got a client in the liquor space and he had two observations. First he said consumption ramped way up during COVID so production ramped up to meet it. Now that consumption has returned to normal brands have way too much inventory because they assumed the Covid era consumption levels would change. Second he said premium brands aren't suffering but rather the cheaper stuff. That fits pretty much everything else we see during a tight economy.
