Iran has been on the verge of nuclear weapon for 30 years. I thought we destroyed their nuclear capabilities in the great strike last year.

Sometimes - when someone is attacking a friend or neighbor, you need to step in for a moment, and hit the attacker (very, very hard) to help things simmer down.

Especially when the attacker is deranged, and wants nuclear weapons. Imagine 9/11 with a dirty bomb or sheety nuke...that's what you get from a nuclear Iran sooner or later.

I am opposed to this War.

I get part of this. You raise some good points but I also disagree hugely on other points. Iran != Iraq. Trump is cleaning some of this stuff up. For example Hezbollah an organization that has killed thousands, Such as the Houthis threatening shipping in one of the worlds most important strategic water ways.

Whether we like it or not. The world is changing fast economically and politically. It looks like the typical ~80 year cycle is coming just a few year later. A time of major change, just look at a map of global oil production. Then a map of oil related trade routes to major users.

Whether we like it or not, major trouble is coming with regards to China. Its a wounded dragon, yet controls the Rare Earths market, but in desperate need of fuel/oil. And if we control that oil access we have a major card in chilling them out regarding them black mailing us with the Rare Earth resources. See Japan 1/6/26 China tried to lock them out.

Greenland, Ven, Iran. its all about the West Vs China, Oil vs Rare Earth, and its all about LOGISTICS. Most wars are about trade of critical commodities and the logistics to move them.

If you left it to any Congress of the past 15-20 years we would never declare war even if we needed to. Having the ability for our presidents to be nimble and act without approval is probably going to end up being important to our survival. Because by the time the partisans agree on anything it will likely be too late.

Even Pearl Harbor and the Phillipines were preventable disasters because our leaders didn't have the political stomach to go on offense.

I don't think the isolation absolutists understand what the global situation is right now. They will complain about our support for Ukraine, and I have sympathies in that, however, we are seeing the dividends of the Russian weakness worldwide and it is providing massive opportunities to be rid of generational world bad actors with very reduced action on our part. Their quagmire in Ukraine is keeping them as non-factors in Iran, Lebanon, Gaza, Cuba, and Colombia. Because of that, we can be opportunistic and push a western friendly world that has recently been receding.

The time for parsing the politics will come later... today, as the bombs fall, support our president and troops 100%
