The first lawsuit was filed by a Muslim father because no Islamic schools were approved new voucher program. Looks like he has a good case because the school he sends his kids to should qualify.

Another reason we shouldn't push commandments and whatnot in schools. All you are doing is inviting the enemy more into the fold. Can't do one without the other.

Here for the reactions of those who pushed vouchers when they find out they're funding Islamic schools

If the Muslims schools don't met the established criteria for the voucher program, then that is on them.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

No, if you start pushing Christian stuff in schools then you will have to allow Muslim horse**** in schools.

There is reason we've avoided doing this, historically. And considering how left wing schools are now we would be stupid to start doing this.

When did we avoid doing this "historically?" Your view only took hold within the last 60 or so years.

Our kids' Christian school decided not to accept vouchers. They don't want any risk of the government involving themselves in our school operations, who we admit, what we teach, etc.

But I'm off topic. Did any Muslim schools meet the criteria?

And for good reason. Considering how diverse we are now we are inviting evil into the classrooms. It's shortsighted and stupid.

I think the young being educated in parochial schools will be so much better educated than those being indoctrinated into woke/democrat ideology with rainbow flags and drag queen library hour in the public school system. And it will be reflected in earnings and net worth as the children grow up.

Seems like an interesting case

Quote:

Hancock Texas' chief financial officer who manages the voucher program in late 2025 requested an opinion from Paxton, asking if he could exclude schools from the voucher program based on their connections to groups designated as foreign terrorist organizations or foreign adversaries.

Hancock said schools associated with the accreditation company Cognia had hosted events organized by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights group that Gov. Greg Abbott recently designated a terrorist organization. CAIR has sued Abbott over the label, calling it defamatory and false. The U.S. State Department has not designated the organization a terrorist group.

Quote:

Hancock shut hundreds of Cognia-accredited schools out of the voucher program, including those that primarily serve Muslim students, Christian students and children with disabilities, which the Houston Chronicle first reported.

Paxton released an opinion in January stating his belief that Hancock has the authority to block certain schools from participating in the program if they are "illegally tied to terrorists or foreign adversaries." To date, no Islamic schools are known to have been accepted into the state voucher program.

The comptroller's office said it began inviting groups of Cognia schools that it considers in compliance with the law to participate, though it is unclear what that review entails.

I told folks this would happen.
Now government will create inspectors to make the Muslims teach what they want, and to be fair , Christian schools will be inspected as well. Should have bit the bullet and told schools to clean up their act, along with teachers and students as well.
No one had the guts to that. Might piss off about 299 people statewide.

When my son's private school had Brighter Horizons in their district before we got bigger, I saw quickly how much those people despised us and had zero desire to welcome anyone to their gym.

Muslims are simply nasty people.

Oh and we beat tf out of them until they damn near lost their desire to rape boys.

The voucher program ended up being a joke and a campaign commercial for Abbott and Patrick.
To make matters worse to get it to pass they gave I think it was 14 billion to teacher unions as the compromise.
All to claim Texas has school vouchers - when it's a joke lottery 1% system.

While I agree, it's still going to give every other ****hole religion ammo to get equal treatment in schools.

It's inevitable. You'll have to be ok with that.

Why does it "look like he has a good case"?

excluding schools from the voucher program based on their connections to groups designated as foreign terrorist organizations or foreign adversaries is not religious discrimination

If Christian students are getting shut out for being tied to the same group, how is that discrimination against Muslims?

Nope this was about giving parents who already had students enrolled in private schools tuition assistance

Everything else was clever marketing to obscure the actual intent

Maybe giving parents who decide their interests would be better served by pulling their kids out of the local public schools some tuition assistance is a good idea but that is a different discussion

Kids that want to move from public school to private school have priority.

Pretty sure ALMOST ALL OF THE DESKS at most private schools already have students in them

I will stick with my characterization that this is tuition assistance for families who already have a student occupying one of those desks
