He was a Democrat most of his life, so that makes sense. Everyone the Dems hire are morons. Doesn't take much to make an improvement over their bench.

The depth and diversity of history books, audio books, and even podcasts available allow people to self educate to a level that College History classes never will. The exception being history and adjacent majors.

Paul should go ahead and switch to the Libertarian party. That way he can officially be ineffective and useless, instead of just being de facto ineffective and useless.

At least Fetterman has already come out to say he supports Mullin which would cancel out Rand's vote if it were that close.

I suppose Fetterman could always renege, though...

The GOP should go ahead and relabel themselves as the non-conservative moderate party. That way they can be officially be ineffective and useless for conservatives, instead of just being de facto ineffective and useless for conservatives.

Nor should he. That was a ridiculous response. It is one thing to say you understand, intellectually, the reasons why someone chooses to act violently, but it is not hard to say that you condemn violence regardless. The comment about Paul's "character" was entirely out of line; more or less telling Paul he was "asking for it".

You can relabel the GOP whatever you want. It doesn't hurt my feelings. Whatever you call them, it is clear that Paul chooses, time and again, not to align with the party. And that's fine. It's between him and his constituency how well he does or does not represent them. But he has not been effective at changing the party to come around to his beliefs/voting habits. So he should stop pretending to be a part of the party. He can try to make the Tea Party an actual political party. Maybe Thomas Massie will join him.

Between Rand Paul, Mitch McConnel, Thomas Massie, and their democrat governor, Kentucky is such a f-ed up state.

It's not a relabel issue. It's saying your premise is flawed calling out Massie instead of the GOPe. I'm assuming you are a conservative because the board leans that way, but if you are a moderate that leans right then yes you should be honest about the GOPs label and how they aren't actually conservative.

With that said, your initial comment about Massie implied he's a primary reason a conservative agenda is not being advanced, and therefore he should just switch parties. But, that is far from the truth if a conservative agenda is what you want. The GOPe is not advancing the conservative agenda all on their own. Thune, Cornyn, McConnell, Murkowski, etc.

However, if you want a minimally conservative at best agenda or most likely moderate agenda then yes the GOPe as is is right up your alley and Massie, a conservative, would hinder that progress.

Essentially you are focusing on the vocal person trying to right the ship rather than the GOPe masses that gaslight their constituents in saying they are heading the right direction but are politicking it a different way.

Rand can't just vote no and leave it at that. Must find cameras somewhere to keep trying to tank the nomination due to personal issues:

Truth. Plus it's actually Dr Markwayne Mullin. He received his doctorate from Bacone College in 2018.

Are we counting honorary doctorates now?

Cause if that's true Dr. Wocka Flocka Flame might need to update his resume.

An honorary degree from a college that closed down and had its campus auctioned off to pay an outstanding judgement from a HVAC contractor. Fits right in there with trump university I guess...

My bad. Read too quickly and thought you associated Trump with it's closure.

It lost 90% of it's students over a 13 year period, primarily becuase it lost it's core focus on the resident Indian community that was part of it's initial mission.

For God's sake. I work with PhD's every day and many are the most ill-informed, prejudiced and downright ignorant people I have ever met. Education has nothing to do with it. I will take life experience over a doctorate every time, and I say that as someone with a PhD.

Anyone find it ironic, given how this thread started, that Mullins and Paul were going at each other? They are the two senators without a bachelor's degree.

Anyone who doesnt sniff Trump's jockstrap is "useless" to most here.

Rand was pretty effective at fighting back against Fauci and the COVID "authorities". He has also been a lone voice for fiscal responsibility when both sides are spending money we dont have. His dad also stood on principle when the sheeple just blindly followed team red or blue.

An honorary doctorate is about as meaningful as a bachelors in most liberal arts programs

Really? He was effective? Did I miss Fauci being convicted and jailed, or anyone being punished or even censured for the Covid debacle? Have his calls for fiscal responsibility actually made a change in US fiscal policy?

The crazy part is, I side with Paul on several issues…particularly these two. But his inability to work with his senatorial colleagues to achieve compromise and steps in the right direction instead of standing on principles and getting steamrolled makes him ineffective…and useless. But he gets good sound bites out of it for his reelection campaign, so I guess that's good enough for his constituents.

It's literally almost meaningless at this point. Some of the dumbest people I know are college grads. One in particular I worked with for a long time would do reports that were riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes. Mistakes that I'd think a 9th grader would make let alone an college graduate.
