Most folks would have gone immediately to pick up cash and a gun. I know I would have.

Extra funny if you live in Houston and see the "quality" of cops on a daily basis like some of us do. Far cry from the cops of the 80's and 90's.

If they're upset about the video, they're public servants working in the course of their jobs and it's his surveillance video. They have no right to privacy. If they're upset about his claims, they're going to need to prove them false or otherwise they're allegations, not defamation. They need to prove they're false in order to win.

That's said every generation. There are good cops now. They just have to put up with total BS everyday of more fruitcakes and nobody has their backs.

Always the next line in any good cop conversation. Being a cop is just like anything else play the game or get rolled over. Playing the game as law enforcement is different though you have to stick to your guns never admit when you mess up and always have your brothers back. Those are the rules I don't make them just live within them.

You may not be a cop but you would make a great one. Just like this thread you called the poster a liar picked HPD of all departments over him and never admitted you were wrong. Never retreat even when you are wrong keep pressing.

Never called him a liar. Told him I didn't believe that a person would get a call saying their cash and gun was recovered and wait several months to go reclaim it…then complain and accuse the cops of stealing his money.
Then another poster says it took forever for the cops to call him and there was never a statement made like that from the other poster at all. It was just all an assumption. Not fact based at all.
Then a poster says all narcotic cops are bad and steal…..and because a person stands up for cops I'm wrong. Got it.

Yeah. He framed plenty of people and stole drugs and money over a very long career, and one other cop went to prison for falsifying documents related to the raid with him. There were a bunch of people released from prison or who had cases dropped after all of his misdeeds came to light.

On top of that, two officers were tasked with investigating the false 911 call from the neighbor that precipitated the whole thing. They found no evidence of criminal behavior, but the girlfriend of one, who was an HPD lieutenant, told her (the officer) to pass on the information to her (the lieutenant) anyway, and she ultimately passed it on to Goines via handwritten memo. That seems suspicious and unprofessional to say the least.

A bunch of officers in his unit were also indicted for overtime theft and falsifying documents, though those charges were dismissed by a new district attorney who decided they didn't have enough evidence. None of them were called in the case against Goines because they all said they'd please the fifth if the DA (Kim Ogg at the time) didn't promise immunity. If we take a leaf out of the police's book and assume nefarious reasons for not wanting to answer questions, these guys are all guilty of something even if not convicted. Seems more like a DA wanting to move on than open a can of worms by convicting a ton of cops and calling all of their work into question.

The Shield was based on the Rampart division of the LAPD. No one is saying this stuff doesn't happen, only that some posters like to pretend like they are experts on subjects they likely know little about.

Good cops catch strays because qualified immunity has run amok in holding the bad ones accountable. Fix qualified immunity, and this **** will sort itself out quickly.

Story is some what believable. Worked with a deputy that would steal the drugs he took off of suspects. Only to resell the drugs, for more money on the streets. Lots of other stories of deputies running escorts for drug cartels. Houston and Harris County is just a real life version of GTA.
