If a dem did the same thing it would be framed completely different. They write article after article about how the East Wing needed remodeling and how smart it was to put the bunker there.
Good Morning America would do a show from the WH celebrating the renovations with whatever leftist first lady or pres was in office.

With the EastWing PEOC being unavailable is why the administration decided to launch the War from "The MAL command center"

He sort of let this slip in the Cabinet meeting this week (or one of his gaggles) but evidently there had been a lawsuit filed East Wing construction that revealed the military involvement and the NYT pushed out an article.

NYT article. I am not giving them clicks or email address but I am sure it's another Pulitzer in the making. Just look at how unbiased the headline is!

Trump is not happy with NYT. Sorry if already posted and believe many of us would have assumed this was part of the plan, but Trump confirmed aboard AF1 over the weekend.

Skip to end for the brief military mention:

quote from the article
-Now it's no secret the military wanted it more than anybody," Trump said at the meeting. "It was supposed to be secret, but it became unsecret because of people that are really unpatriotic saying things

Joe Kent?

Yep, those unpatriotic people asking about where their tax dollars are going and what is happening to the buildings that belong to the people.

No tax dollars used.
We really need to rewrite our laws concerning libel and slander.

On the ball room*

The PEOC I'm SURE has plenty of tax dollars allocated.

Yes, secure communications and more security period were incorporated last year at MAL.

Frankly, I would think he's safer there than even at the WH, new ball room or no.

Something tells me that it's cheaper to build the command center, without the old East Wing sitting on top, than it would have been to do it the other way, but I guess that doesn't figure into the decision for this idiot judge.

My question is is the PEOC still there or was it removed in demolition

This whole East Wing makeover is a microcosm of TDS and how its become just a reflexive instinct embedded in leftist DNA at this point. The outrage and uproar over this is beyond stupid right down to the idiot judge that didn't throw it out of his courtroom.

I am not sure it's been disclosed but one would assume it was decommissioned.

Believe there are "other facilities" that can be used in the interim.

Certainly someone has been sleuthing over what is available publicly and what sorts of equipment has been coming and going for the site.

Aren't their laws against the Executive branch accepting gifts? How do donations for the ballroom not run afoul of such laws?

Note: Don't take this to mean I am against the thing - just build it already! People opposed to building this are just a bunch of whiny people.

Kinda a stretch. It's not a personal gift to him, it's a donation for a specific purpose, building the ballroom, and it's not like he can just pack it up and take it with him to Mar Lago when he's done, other presidents can use it in the future.

Now that said, some judge probably would try and say it was an illegal gift, it's just a dubious claim nonetheless.

All gifts received by POTUS become property of the US Government. This is not new. There is a gold door on west campus from Kuwait. It's property of the US government.

Obviously the building is meant for the American people and not Trumps personal use and benefit.

Believe many of the memorials around the mall relied on fundraising and donations to construct. This is really no different.

I keep reading the Yahoo comments on the articles related to this and laughing. So many leftists think that:
A) Trump has let our enemies know that there is a bunker under the White House for the first time ever.
and
B) This suddenly turns the White House into a valid military target, because they had zero reason to attack the U.S. Commander in Chief's residence before now.

Right. And if the stuff really hits the fan, the President will be constantly flying on Air Force One. We saw this on 9/11 when Bush flew around all over the place.

Is Trump taking the ballroom, the basement, and all the foundations with him in 2029?
