(Sorry for the long link, I'm on my phone and can never figure out the URL shortening stuff without the desktop shortcuts.)
The former head of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission and an associate who led a nonprofit have been indicted on multiple felony and misdemeanor counts. They are accused of misappropriating funds and self-dealing.
If I'm reading this correctly, while she was the head of the HRC she allegedly funneled grant money to a non-profit where she had previously served on the leadership team and was still a signatory on their bank accounts. The guy who had taken over that non-profit was her boyfriend and was allegedly funneling money back to her in part to pay for her rent and other personal expenses.
It's also alleged that funds which were supposed to be spent to help homeless children were instead spent to hire her son on a high salary and she had direct access to his bank account as a signatory.
Of note, this is a local investigation by the San Francisco District Attorney. The people of San Francisco had enough a few years ago and hired some new people to run their city and it seems to have gotten at least a little bit better there.
