Neither side actually cares about Africa. Let's just be clear on that. A Christian slaughter will occur and for every one of those, 1 out of 10 MAY get picked up by some fringe outlets that will be reposted a few times and then forgotten about in a week. At most.
The same for anything the left highlights. I think Kony 2012 had the most staying power and even that was gone in like a month and that was with actual Presidential interest on it. I think I remember Trump posting something once about the latest slaughters in Darfur? If so, it was again, gone in a flash.
Africa is such a general unending humanitarian disaster that it is practically numbing to the rest of the world. Even expected.
Not saying don't care about it, but Africa is not politically convenient to focus on. So the news never really will aside from a massive contentious or egregious event (by African standards) that they will use to shock and awe and get clicks for the weekend.
okay- point taken
but WHY?
why are there thousands of people protesting when the Archbishop of Jerusalem is ASKED TO NOT HOLD SERVICES UNDER IRANIAN MISSILE STRIKES so they can blame the Jews-
but then they say nothing when there are LITERAL MASSACRES of Christians throughout the Middle East and Africa-
in the thousands of murdered christians?
how does this compute?
Because they are Africans. I don't know how else to spell it out for you. No one cares about them. This happens multiple times, every single year, and has held that pace for pretty much my entire life.
I am sure you are probably aware of this. So why highlight this one? What makes this one special to you? Not trying to call you out per se, but generally curious. I imagine you saw this tweet and felt angry about it. As you should. But again, we ALL know this is happening pretty much monthly. Where was that anger last month? Or the month before? And so on and so on?
My point is, people may care in flashes here and there when they see a tweet or headline break through once in a while but then quickly move on to other things.
Why? Because it is Africa. And this is what happens in Africa.
