Strangely, I don't see the same leftists, media and 'Christ is King" influencers mentioning ANYTHING about this latest massacre of Christians yesterday in Nigeria.

Which is the same as last week's massacre. Which is the same as last month's massacre. Which is the same as last year's massacre.

Why it's almost as if they can't blame the West for attacks on Muslims- they really don't care.

What a strange coincidence!

If they won't say anything then listen to their silence. They'll tell you where they stand and what side they're on.

what is truly inconceivable is that there were thousands of protests against Trump, Israel, Bush, Reagan all over the world.

how many protests has anyone seen across the United States in support of Nigerian Christians?

other than Michelle Obama holding up a piece of paper in the White House? While her husband coincidentally was the President who did nothing to help.

I have definitely seen reports of these ongoing attacks on the Fake News outlets in the past. Is it not getting as much attention as it probably should? Probably. Are there other pressing issues being covered that more directly relate to our nation? I'd say so, but admittedly that's just my interpretation.

Neither side actually cares about Africa. Let's just be clear on that. A Christian slaughter will occur and for every one of those, 1 out of 10 MAY get picked up by some fringe outlets that will be reposted a few times and then forgotten about in a week. At most.

The same for anything the left highlights. I think Kony 2012 had the most staying power and even that was gone in like a month and that was with actual Presidential interest on it. I think I remember Trump posting something once about the latest slaughters in Darfur? If so, it was again, gone in a flash.

Africa is such a general unending humanitarian disaster that it is practically numbing to the rest of the world. Even expected.

Not saying don't care about it, but Africa is not politically convenient to focus on. So the news never really will aside from a massive contentious or egregious event (by African standards) that they will use to shock and awe and get clicks for the weekend.

We had a teacher at the high school where I work who was big on the whole Kony thing way-back-when. She taught a "service learning" class (I still don't know what the heck that was), and raising awareness and funds for that cause was their entire focus.

There was some US-based charity organization associated with those efforts, and if I remember correctly, the whole thing blew up when the head of that organization was found to be involved in some sort of child abuse or trafficking or something. Kony fell out of the news pretty quickly after that.

okay- point taken

but WHY?

why are there thousands of people protesting when the Archbishop of Jerusalem is ASKED TO NOT HOLD SERVICES UNDER IRANIAN MISSILE STRIKES so they can blame the Jews-

but then they say nothing when there are LITERAL MASSACRES of Christians throughout the Middle East and Africa-

in the thousands of murdered christians?

how does this compute?

You have to break out your identity politics hierarchy tables and intersectionalize them according to the latest politically influential hierarchies.

Muslim is way above Christian in the leftist victimhood hieratchy. Both groups are black African so that's a unexploitable wash for the left. There are also tribalist factors but that's a regional thing in African that isn't politically useful to the west so also not worth considering. So, since the higher victimhood clsss of Muslims is doing the violence and the Christian ls are lower on the victim hierarchy, to the left they obviously deserved it and they largely ignore it because its isn't consistent with their victim narratives in the west.

Because they are Africans. I don't know how else to spell it out for you. No one cares about them. This happens multiple times, every single year, and has held that pace for pretty much my entire life.

I am sure you are probably aware of this. So why highlight this one? What makes this one special to you? Not trying to call you out per se, but generally curious. I imagine you saw this tweet and felt angry about it. As you should. But again, we ALL know this is happening pretty much monthly. Where was that anger last month? Or the month before? And so on and so on?

My point is, people may care in flashes here and there when they see a tweet or headline break through once in a while but then quickly move on to other things.

Why? Because it is Africa. And this is what happens in Africa.

Simply put, the Leftist propagandists have declared Islam one of their protected classes which means a complete ban on any news reporting their awful behavior because they can't have the normies deciding that they don't think this protected class is good and they don't want this behavior in their homes.

I Googled "Nigeria Christian attacks Palm Sunday," and it seems that unless it was a Christian website or Nigerian, the only reporting was from The New York Times.

Maybe the other places (CNN, Fox, NewsMaxx, OAN(?), and the others don't have their stories linked to Google? Or maybe they're too busy with the war on Iran and prices rising to pay attention to what happens to non-Americans in another country, at least when Trump is low-hanging fruit for them to still get their views and clicks?

I do care. But I pretty much only care about protecting Christians throughout the world at this point. They are the only people I would let in to this country if I had any power. Christians from any corner of the globe welcome. All others can piss off.

Yeah, the woman I was dating at the time was into it as well. Also a school teacher. Did a couple fundraisers. Money went to I have no idea. The whole thing was a mess. Massive attention and appeal to do something that quickly fell apart after it was realized that we couldn't do much and the overall message was actually not the most popular in Africa itself. IIRC, this is actually where the term "white savior complex" first originated and it sums it up perfectly. A bunch of ignorants who want to feel good about themselves and Do Something Good and make gestures and video shorts but ultimately are useless to everyone involved. Kony was never captured to my knowledge. I think they stopped trying after a few months.

Excellent summation. Muslim atrocities are always downplayed or ignored if possible because the Left can't have them interfering with or confusing their victimhood narratives that are crucial to holding their fragile ideology together. They only see things in terms of oppressor/oppressed.

I'm pretty sure his point was you can't care about one thing if you don't care about other things. You have to care about them all equally or your limited care doesn't count.

I guess the response to that is we're not the ones doing it in OP's example. But to his main point I don't mind what we're doing in Iran as a CM, so I guess my passivity as to African turmoil gets a pass.

After Iran is settled, I would have no problem with Trump shifting our military to take care of the ills in Nigeria.

I know there are a lot of Nigerians living all throughout the U.S., some of whom I've been lucky enough to know or befriend, who would love to see their country be a place where they know their relatives are safer.

It's weird you're trying to make this some gotcha about the issue of the bishop in Israel. Have you been speaking about this before? Your own motivations for highlighting today is to cast blame against others for not talking about it.

It's an on going tragedy wrought with fraud. There was a group called the invisible children trying to help the children of the worn torn areas in Africa. Turned out to be a giant fraud the founders were making millions.

I think humans are fundamentally incapable of caring about everything. There's so much heart break and wickedness in the world amplified by social media we can't handle it all. So we dont.

Much respect for him and his drive to make life better for them.

I get the not wanting to respond to violence with violence - that's usually my way of thinking as well - but seeing as how it's been going on for decades, maybe it's time.

Now, as I posted above, it doesn't need to be them. Like with Iran, we (Trump and our military) can do the dirty work so they can live the life they deserve.

I mean, we (USA) waste so much money on stupid things, there's no reason not to do some good with it as well.

Because it's politically convenient. That's all. All of this stuff is just ammo in politicians toolboxes. If someone thinks they can use it to pull at some heartstrings and damn the other side, it'll get focus.

It's all manipulation. Taking advantage of crisis events to further an agenda. Again, you should know this by now. We all should. The news cycles are the frontlines and what gets aired is how political battles are fought in this day and age. They are the gatekeepers and they have no current interest in furthering the aims of those who would be sympathetic to Christian plight across the world. And we (Americans) attention spans are so fried that the vast majority don't even notice. It's the ultimate one two punch really.

This is our reality. Leftists don't care about religious persecution and the GOP is too worried about frivolous nonsense and maintaining a status quo to ruffle any actual feathers.

Also probably doesn't help much of the world believes Africa is a lost cause in any sort of macro humanitarian fix.
