  • The city of Evanston, IL started a reparations program for blacks - $25K each.
  • Judicial Watch and 5 plaintiffs sued on the basis of violation of the Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment.
  • Evanston offered a host of reasons as to why this suit should be dismissed, but Federal court just ruled suit should go forward.
If I remember correctly, fewer of 2% of Americans held slaves, and the civil war fought to end slavery ended more than 150 years ago. BTW, Chicago is now looking at reparations.

This is just another attempt to ensure blacks are kept on the Dem plantation, and needs to be fought tooth and nail.

Judge John F. Kness was appointed by President Donald Trump. GOOD TRUMP!

Reparations have already been paid through the Freedman's Bureau right after the war,

Next.

The Civil War was not just fought to end slavery. Our education system has done a terrible job really teaching the causes of the civil war. The greatest deflection of all is that it was all about slavery…..and that has screwed this country up for almost two centuries. Lincoln had a plan for he foresaw what would happen. How right he was.

The biggest problem with an argument for reparations is showing lasting harm due to slavery. The reality is every descendant of slaves in America is better off because their ancestors were slaves, or else they'd still be in ****hole Africa and not here as citizens with a much better life.

No one remembers that the war started before the emancipation proclamation was even issued and that Lincoln was about to be voted out. Or that he campaigned on the promise of not ending slavery and that's how he won even some northern states.

Let's not let facts get in the way!

Christians were slaves for hundreds of years in Egypt before Moses led them out.

I can guarantee that almost every Black (family) in Evanston earns close to 6 figure salary and owns a 500K+ house.

I didn't know there were Christians when Moses was around.

Christians were never slaves in ancient Egypt. They were slaves in Egypt during the Rashidun Caliphate (Arab conquest) and under the Ottomans.

Ok so if being factually correct I should say the Hebrew people or more correctly the Israelites…..ancestors of the Jewish people.
Fact remains they were slaves. If we are going to pay reparations to one then should be all folks that have been slaves.

I hope the decision that ultimately settles this case includes some Thomas Sowell quotes.

Sowell FTW.

President Trump is already late in awarding Sowell the Medal of Freedom.

The Hebrews were a Canaanite tribe from what is now Jordon. Several branches of what were the Canaanites (ancestors of the Hebrews), were slaves in Egypt. This is well documented on the Luxor Temple Pylons.

The difference is that the descendants of slaves in Egypt (or Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, Arabia, etc.) don't form a 90% monolithic voting bloc to pander to.

The perpetual victimization of blacks that the dem plantation pursues is one of the worst things to happen to blacks. Their entire lives they are told by Dems and the media that they can't use phones, aren't smart enough to get an ID, can't use the internet, can't drive or walk in public or they'll get killed, that they'll literally never amount to anything in the US simply because of the color of their skin. They hear this their entire lives. (And couldn't be further from the truth). It's gross. There are good Dems. I know them. But Dems as a group are a gross and evil bunch.

My grandpa wasn't a slave, but he did have to sit in the colored balcony at the movie theater and drink from the colored water fountain. Apparently he was too dark of a Mexican. However, I already received "reparations." It's called the minority scholarship. Heck, I had to turn some down because I was going to college for free while my buddies who were just as smart had to pay. Add in the current minority owned business preferential treatment, and society is doing more than enough right now to help minorities. All valid excuses for minorities in poverty have been eliminated. The reparations BS needs to stop now. It's going way too far. Glad the judge agreed.

Exactly.

I've made that argument before and people exclaimed "so you are saying slavery was a good thing?!".

No, but there is no question that the descendants of slaves are far better off than they would have been had it not occurred.

What?!? The Luxor Temple Pylons say nothing about the Israelites or about slaves in Egypt. The Pylons depict military victories of Rameses II. The Israelites were long gone by the time of his reign.

I really wish we were allowed to state this obvious fact in public. Slavery can be both evil while also resulting in current day blacks winning the birth lottery.

I would argue that since slavery, the biggest obstacle to the success of blacks has been the creation of the welfare state, codified by President Johnson's War on Poverty (1964).

Destroyed black families, fostered their dependence on welfare, and destroyed black institutions.

The Dems continue to landmine the paths leading to success of blacks.

LOL. If generations of a black person's family was truly harmed by slavery, what good does $25K do to pay that back? Its little more than an absurd and transparent attempt to buy votes and keep blacks on the plantation. Glad the judge saw through it and allowed the lawsuit to go through.

Retroactive Replacement Theology. The belief that all the Jews mentioned in the TaNaKh ("Old Testament") were Christians all along.

Just like Muslims saying that Abraham, Moses, David, and Jesus were Muslims.

That's a good question.

Maybe we should limit the program to people who have documentation and DNA evidence to prove that their great-great-great-great-grandparents were indeed slaves (and not post-1865 immigrants from Africa or the Caribbean). Good luck with that!

Why reparations?
Wasn't slavery awful and evil? Don''t let these evil, racist descendants bribe their way using reparations.
They belong in jail.
Anyone who believes they owe reparations, should turn them self in to the local authorities.
