I really feel sorry for her but she is a dumb ass. Hope she is returned without harm but I truly hope we don't risk one US military life trying to rescue her. She made her bed, she has to lie in it. She was given lots of warning.

There's a fine line between not living your life in fear and being an idiot (or as we used to say, tempting God). What she has done carries an enormous risk - going to Israel or Egypt is not living in fear, going to Syria or Iraq is being an idiot.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Women can get spit on or worse for not covering their hair in many Muslim locales, whether you're a westerner or not. Certainly there are some times when it's performative but more frequently it's just what you gotta do. When I was in Riyadh the women were all told to cover their hair except when on the compound or in private.

This woman appears not to have been exercising enough caution in trying to do her job in a dangerous place, but I'm not sure why the responses to an American woman being kidnapped on here are what they are. She's an American and victim of bad people doing bad things.


It's kind of like people who stay put on the coast with a category 4+ storm barreling down on them. I pray for them to make it through, but I wish acknowledge that no first responders should risk their lives to save a dumbass who chose to put themselves in that dancer.
