Same song repeated every new generation.

Assimilation means that you do not need to marry your brother, that should be good enough.

Muslims are so fundamentally different than all earlier generations of immigrants it's not even funny. It may be apocryphal but I heard a story of Nigel Farage telling Americans that "he'd kill to have our immigration problem"

It didn't work for the Byzantines, the balkans, Scandinavians, Western Europeans, or English. But hey maybe it'll be fine here

America's decadence is like novacain, everyone eventually gets seduced. Immigrant parents are fighting a losing battle. Sex drugs and the devils music will save us.....lol

The whole point of coming to American is to become part of the greatest country in the world. It's not an either or choice, you can retain your cultural heritage and still assimilate into the American way of life.

Quilt, not a melting pot.

The worst possible outcome. We dont need to be a patchwork quilt. That is unsustainable.

Interestingly enough, as red and blue cultures begin to self-segregate, the quilt becomes more of a reality. Those folks who claim we are headed for a cultural civil war might be onto something

Couldnt agree with you more.

The bleeding hearts love to tell you we're a nation of immigrants. The difference is, my family, like so many others, came here as legal immigrants...to be American.

Not a [fill in the blank] living in America....but a die-heard, red-blooded, contributing member of this great nation.

This article basically says thats impossible without any particular Muslim forgoing Muslim traditions and teachings and becoming more secular.

Glad he admits it. So get out.

I don't to the movies, and demand they keep the lights on. I dont go into women's restrooms, and demand they allow men. I dont go into Baptist churches, and demand they teach Mormonism. Why? Because the selfishness of that type of attitude is beyond ludicrous, and borders on insanity. I enter those places with the full knowledge of the expectations for anyone who enters.

So don't immigrate to my country, and explain why you can't adapt to our culture. Assimilate or GTHO.

The specifics of your faith and culture the things that make your community a community rather than a collection of individuals are treated as obstacles on the path to real Americanness.

The United States is not a nation of communities. It is a nation of individuals, bound together by our governing documents to protect our liberty. That is his fundamental misunderstanding.

You are an Italian, a German, an Arab, or Chinese, by DNA. One becomes an American by subscribing to our system of government and some basic societal norms. If that's not for you, if preserving your "community" is what matters most, then choose another country.
