That didn't answer my question. Compromise, just to pass legislation, is useless if you know the democrats won't uphold it when they are in power. The dems reneged after Reagan compromised and gave amnesty. Tell me why conservatives should compromise with a bunch of dirty, lying, communist democrats?

Let me elaborate: because the current legal framework sucks. That's the framework that brought us to we are. There needs to be revised legislation or it's just going to be more of the same thing next time a democrat is in the White House. But there is no legislation without compromise.

The statement of needing to fix immigration law to prevent this from happening again is a lie. Trump, with the same budget as Biden (and before him Obama), same number of BPA, was able to close the border crossings to a trickle. The problem is due to Democrats not enforcing or even trying to enforce the laws on the books. Nothing is this compromise, or any other compromise, will change that. Not increasing number of agents, not increasing the budget, not saying here's another law. Simply enforce what is already there.

The current laws clearly provide a he executive a lot of discretion about how they are enforced. Even the Supreme Court wasn't willing to say that Biden's non-enforcement of the laws was illegal. Just because Biden chose to take a harder line on immigration on the last few months of his presidency doesn't mean the laws don't need to be improved to prevent a future president from taking the same approach he did for 2020-2023.

Just the E-Verify requirement alone will dramatically reduce the motive for illegal immigrants to make the journey. Crazy that you prefer the risk that a future president Pritzker or whatever will pull the same crap Biden did over letting some illegals who are keeping their nose clean register and just do their thing.

No, they don't. Biden violated his oath to the constitution by having the people running the country ignore the law. He should have been impeached for it.

How about the republicans, who have the majority, just pass legislation that dereliction of duty on enforcing our border laws is immediate grounds for impeachment and removal of the president. Make it treason. While they are at it, fix our ridiculous census laws and take away the driving factor for why the democrats want to flood us with 3rd world leeches.
