Considering this is an agricultural state I find the halal slaughter methods cruel and completely unnecessary. I hope HEB gets some serious pushback but all this does is highlight there is a demographic shift happening up in Collin county.

More people need to understand what this is. It should not appear in a corporate grocery store.

Nick Shirley needs to go to DFW and work on this H1B and Muslim fraud.

It is every American's patriotic duty to toss all the bacon you can carry onto this section if you encounter it.

I have seen Halal meat at other HEB stores, specifically in Katy.

I've said this before, but the HEB near the Medical Center in San Antonio is a Third World zone. Hijabs and burkas every time I go in.

The one over on I10 and Wurzbach s even worse.

According to the Google, the grocery stores (Walmart, Tom Thumb, and Kroger) in Collin County all carry halal meat. Walmart is said to carry halal meat in 60 stores in Texas.

Looks like this halal thing has been around a while and the major stores have no problem selling it.

HEB will sell foods based on the clientele in the area. Not really anything new.

That said, halal meat should not be legal given how they basically torture the animal to kill it.

Where is PETA when it comes to that?

Before telling others to "understand what this is," it's worth checking the facts yourself.

Commercial halal certification in the U.S. almost certainly including HEB's supplier typically requires or permits pre-slaughter stunning. The animal is rendered unconscious before the cut. The science on non-stunned halal is also genuinely contested: some EEG studies show faster loss of consciousness than in conventionally stunned animals. It's not settled, specially not the clean-cut cruelty case you're presenting.

"Unnecessary" probably just means unnecessary for you. For Muslim consumers, it's a dietary requirement same logic as kosher, which has been on grocery shelves for decades without this reaction.

People should have to watch a video showing how you need to kill a cow to qualify as halal! Most have no idea!

Most have very little clue in general in any method. Including most of this thread. As someone in the industry, most plants try to accomplish as many certifications as possible to not limit their ability to sell.

Same for most distributor and retailers. It isn't catering to someone specific, just trying to ensure you aren't eliminating customers.

Most of the posts on this board is people going out of their way to find an angle to be outraged so they can condemn others that are also outraged.
