It looks like Escape from New York is being remade to commemorate its final, liberal destruction.

I've seen the script treatment/proposed casting and don't want to give away too much,but here is a hint.

Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell in original)

The biggest and boldest recasting ever in the entire history of motion pictures. The new guy (who was a TV star before he entered politics) changes out the silent glider approach to the city for a gold-plated 757 blaring patriotic music landing on 5th avenue while shooting congestion pricing cameras and avoiding "equity obstacles".

From there, the movie writes itself. I can't wait to see it.

Is StudioCanal a spoof company?

John Carpenter has one of the most amazing cinematic runs in history. Remaking his stuff is dumb IMO. Attempts to date can't touch him.

Hell, his remakes are better than the original.

They've remade Halloween. They've remade The Fog. I saw only enough of those to know they were steaming garbage.

Remaking Escape From New York is a terrible idea. There is only one Snake Plissken. There can never be a new Snake Plissken. This will fail.

The only way this works is if the go hard into a satirical approach of the movie and not try to do a 'serious' weak ass CGI update. If the OP is correct, it sounds like this might be the direction it's headed.

for actors business acumen is not an asset. breaking into movies acting "TV acting" is a big deal.
