Yeah that is unfortunately not true. Even when the news was presented as news, it was still carefully curated for the consumer to shape their beliefs. Both in HOW it was covered (framing), as well as WHAT was actually covered.

There were 3 networks.
Interesting that the networks wer not allowed to share content from other networks.
Now you can have Fox show an edited clip of CNN and make a claim regarding +/- of said clip.
And vice versa.
Those 3 networks worked to scoop the other two.
I'd say there's a lot more framing going on today.
