Senior FIFA management held a discussion with FIFA President Gianni Infantino about the possibility of requesting US President Donald Trump to pause Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) raids during the FIFA World Cup, which will be held this summer, according to a report published by The Athletic on Tuesday.

These conversations initially centered on keeping ICE away from the World Cup venues across the 11 US host cities, but broadened to include the cities themselves, according to the sources.

Why should FIFA care? They got their money and delivered the tickets. They had better instead hope that ICE doesn't ask to see to whom the tickets were purchased by in the US.

ICE should have facial recognition at security checkpoints flagging for those individuals that are marked as "To be deported".

FIFA can go pound some sand.

FIFA gets to control the inside of the stadium, and ICE gets to work without restrictions on the outside of the stadium. If an illegal alien makes it inside for the game as a spectator, all power to him/her…enjoy the game! Once they leave, they are fair game to get arrested again!

If the illegal alien is working on ground crews or hospitality staff for the FIFA event, arrest FIFA management for employing them! Welcome to America!

ICE has plenty to do without messing around at World Cup games. There's a layer called "Customs" for screening incoming verboten people, and randomly asking folks in those crowds will be more trouble than it's worth. Just hit the barrio and look at the houses with 12 old minivans and pickups around it during big games.

Good point but in this case FIFA gets a 15% seller fee and 15% buyer fee on every ticket bought/sold on their resale exchange.

That isn't allowed in Mexico by law so they couldn't care less about cartels and other issues there.

The US is where they are going to make $$$ on the resale market so they want to try to maximize $$$.

FIFA will stop caring about ICE the day the world cup ends.

Yup. Optics aside, it would be a horrible waste of resources.

I thought they essentially had to have an ID/some sort of verification since the ticket is tied to a person. Essentially forces people to only use FIFA's resale shop (which is why they can collect both the seller and buyer).

My brother-in-law was trying to find the best way to get a nephew a ticket without having to claim it and then pay the 15% fee to transfer it to him.

If FIFA as smart and as money grubbing as they seem, they should invite ICE into the stadium, allow them to take the people ICE wants to take, take the ticket and then re-sell it to someone else.

Seem to be losing out on some money

Where was FIFA when slave labor was purportedly used to build the Qatar soccer venues for the 2022 World Cup?

Honestly, I'm not sure what ICE would accomplish by being there. It's not like it will be a concentration of illegals, and the possibility for picking up someone here legally and making a mistake are much higher than normal since some rich mo-fos from Mexico will probably get tickets and be here on a tourist visa. We want rich Mo-Fos from Mexico to come see games in the US on a tourist visa, because that makes us money.

Trump should not publicly agree to this, but tell FIFA why we are not likely to be there.

SoFi Stadium workers urge FIFA to bar ICE from World Cup, threaten strike
Amid these concerns, a union representing about 2,000 food service workers at SoFi Stadium said on Monday it was demanding that FIFA keep ICE away from World Cup operations in Los Angeles and warned workers could strike if their concerns are not addressed.
Unite Here Local 11, which represents cooks, servers, and bartenders at the Inglewood venue, said the workers remain without a labor contract as the World Cup approaches.

Probably lots if ICE customers in Local11

Argentina vs. Honduras World Cup warm-up at Kyle Field expected to drive up tourism in the Brazos Valley

Tickets go on sale Wednesday at 9 a.m. for the World Cup warm-up match between the two squads at Kyle Field on June 6, 2026. Tickets are about $100.

How many illegals have tickets already? ICE should be there to find out.
