Story on KBTX says "tragic accident". I struggling with this one. Heart attack or stroke OK. Tragic accident in pickleball is hard to imagine. He didn't see the ball while walking across the court and tripped on it and suffered a brain injury? Spectator was showing off a knife and the mentor dove out of bounds to play a ball and fell on the knife somehow?

Fell

Hit his head; suffering a serious injury.

Died two weeks later.

Pretty much the definition of an accident.

At 76, a fall can and often is fatal.

Fugging pickleball. I fell and broke my wrist doing it back in January. I've seen a lot of bad injuries in that game. Prob because it's a bunch of older people like me that play.

Agree. Especially for competitive men who want that old thrill back trying just a little too hard for what their old bodies can handle. Just ripe for injuries.

Two weeks ago my coworker had a mild heart attack and fell on a treadmill at the gym. He hit his head, suffered a brain bleed, and passed away. He was only 57.

It was awful. His son is a senior in college and I've been working with him on his resume and job search. I got a text in the middle of a meeting with like 5 other people.

The freak nature of it is what makes it worse. There really wasn't any sort of precautions or steps to take to prevent it.

My father, 2 years ago, fell and hit his head playing pickleball. Did not tell anyone. The next morning visited a doctor and 3 hours later in surgery to due to swelling. Almost died, but the old fool is back to playing pickleball again.

Pickleball has got to be an orthopedic surgeon's gravy train.

I'm sure they love seeing people who have no business doing anything, a la "I'm as young as I feel!" come into their office. I'm sure they appreciate those folks paying for their kids' college.
