Why are we upset with Roberts? He's been pretty solid.

He's more concerned with the image of the court than the decisions

He's made that abundantly clear over the years. And Solid? Nope. The Obamacare decision is a permanent stain on his tenure.

I think the most important question is, would Governor DeSantis want to (immediately and permanently) go to DC, and join SCOTUS?

Gut instinct is "no."

Do you SERIOUSLY think ANYONE would take ANY invitation to be on SCOTUS and say...NAH...

Okay. Just one guy's opinion. A guy almost the same age as DeSantis, from the same area, and so forth.

They've got three kids under the age of 8. Casey's got some things going on, between investigations, potential health concerns, and maybe even political aspirations of her own.

And my instinct is that the Governor is a doer, and might not think that SCOTUS is the best place for him now.

Not to mention the other side of things, the likelihood of being confirmed if he does want it and is nominated.

Ok...

Now THAT is a fair enough rebuttal...

I will respectfully disagree that DeSantis would turn it down, though...

I understand his personal issues, but they have not stopped him from performing his current political duties.

I think he would take a SCOTUS appointment in a minute.

So, I agree to disagree.

I'm all for discussion, even in the face of disagreement.

For me, it's a question of executive vs judiciary, and maybe legislative (if he would consider returning to Congress). Different abilities, different timelines. Which one does Governor DeSantis think best fits his goals, skills, place in life, etc?

I would love it too. I'm a huge fan of his. I just don't see that happening with the next ~16 years already planned out for the GOP. He'd be left in waiting too long.

One that I'm really really starting to like a lot is Brandon Gill too. That guy has been front and center a lot lately. Especially his attack on that DIGNIDAD bill

Would his relation to Dinesh D'Souza hurt him nationally?

I hate to be a Debbie Downer butttttt…..Trump does forgive but he doesn't forget. DeSantis will never be one of his picks for the SC, totally out of character for the Donald.

The candidate will be like the last three Trump put forth, out of a judicial pool of candidates. You can bet it will be a practicing male judge.

Seems President Trump forgave V.P. J.D. Vance.

Talk is cheap, actually running against him after Trump had arguably saved his political career is not.

Desantis has no political future once his term as governor ends as long as Trump is the emperor of the party.

They have rekindle their broken relationship but it will never be like it was, seriously, you guys don't understand Trump. He doesn't forget when he forgives.

He could always move to Texas...

Thomas won't retire. He wants the record for longest serving Justice if for no other reason than the way he was treated during his confirmation.

Where do you come up with this *****
Thomas stated in his confirmation hearing that he wanted to serve 43 years or something similar so he still has a ways to go if that wasn't just hyperbole.

I found it...thanks!

In a conversation with his law clerks two years following his confirmation, The New York Times reported Thomas expressed his desire to serve on the court until the year 2034.

"The liberals made my life miserable for 43 years," a former clerk remembered Thomas who was 43 years old when confirmed saying, according to The New York Times. "And I'm going to make their lives miserable for 43 years."

Would much rather DeSantis on SC than in the Executive.

Yeah, he's been a pretty terrible executive in Florida.

You obviously don't live here, you hack. DeSantis has been AMAZING for this state. If only we could keep the local RINOs from sabotaging him.

Lol, you obviously don't spend much time on this forum. I'm probably the biggest DeSantis fan here but I do love sarcasm.

The liberals here post some crazy stuff...its sometimes hard to discern a liberal from a sarcasm post unless people really know your posting history (hint...we may read your posts but don't always associate them with a name unless we are replying to them).

SCOTUS SCANDAL EXPLODES: Chief Justice John Roberts reportedly HID $20 MILLION+ in his wife's commissions from Big Law firms that argue before SCOTUS, then refused to recuse in over 500 cases!

He mischaracterized the cash as "salary" and buried her equity stake for years.

JOHN ROBERTS MUST RESIGN IMMEDIATELY or be impeached.

WHERE ARE GOP "LEADERS"?

How could she "hide" her equity stake if she is a partner? Even a junior one?

Now to be fair, some firms are structured in such a way that their bonus/dividends have withholding and treated as salary at the end of the year. But still.

She doesn't work for a law firm. She's a law firm recruiter.

A formal disbarment complaint was filed against Chief Justice John Roberts at the DC Bar on April 22, 2026, alleging a pattern of financial disclosure violations spanning two decades. At the center of the complaint is the documented commission income earned by Jane Sullivan Roberts while working as a legal recruiter at Major, Lindsey & Africa between 2007 and 2014. According to internal records released by whistleblower Kendal Price, she earned $10.3 million in commissions from elite law firms during that period, some of which argued cases before the Supreme Court in the same years.

Even if he got disbarred, it would me absolutely zilch.

There is no requirement to have a law license to be on SCOTUS.

ONLY Congress can remove him with impeachment.
You can turn off signatures, btw

Yep. Not only that, but Roberts is such a swamp creature, there's no way the DC Bar would disbar him.

Maybe that can be their party platform. If it is, maybe that would compel him to make rulings constitutionally and in effect save his seat.
