James Fishback 1000% for governor for Florida. He's exactly what this state needs with DeSantis being term limited.

Agreed. The fact that Donalds is apparently refusing to debate Fishback really says a lot.

I think it says Donalds has a 30-40 point lead in most polls. We could and maybe should argue that we, as the voters, deserve to have a debate, but there is no other reason for him to do it.

I mean Trump was polling at 5 percent when he got on the GOP primary debate stage and destroyed Jeb Bush in 2015. Don't you like debates?

I'm not sure how you got "I don't think we should have a debate" from "I get why he doesn't think he has to."

I would be good with Rubio for President and DeSantis as his AG in 28'. That would put the fear of God into the leftist in Washington. Then move DeSantis to State in a second Rubio term, setting him up for a run for the White House in 36'.

DeSantis needs to be in the hightest levels of the Executive Branch. Anything less is a waste of talent IMO.

Dear. God. Please, please let it be.

Interesting news from the gubernatorial race:

https://www.firstcoastnews.com/article/news/politics/elections/jay-collins-files-lawsuit-james-fishback-florida-governors-race/77-c2622efc-97b4-4e81-94ad-98ed93f7954d

Lt Governor and candidate Jay Collins filed a lawsuit claiming that candidate James Fishback is not eligible to run for governor, as he has not been a Florida resident for the statutorily required seven years.

DeSantis comes off as a dork. He'd be the best man for the job (president) based on what he's done in Florida, but he's got an image issue.

Rubio is much smoother and a much better orator. He's done great as SOS. He's much more likable. He's the most likable of the 3, followed by Vance.
I agree with your Rubio assessment, but I find Vance deeply unlikable. Desantis would be much better IMO.

Yeah, pretty much. The problem is that half the votes are women; are they gonna go for the rude guy (Vance), the dork (DeSantis), or the smooth talker (Rubio)?

I just think they always pick the dork last.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Likability aside, I think the main thing is that Vance is probably more charismatic than DeSantis.

It is funny how people can come to a different opinion on the likability of a politician…I find Vance very likable as I do Rubio as well…I like Desantis and he would be my first choice, but he is the least likable of the 3, not that I dislike him.

I don't think any of them are "unlikable". Vance is definitely more of an "every man" man though and a less polished politician than the other two.

In a sane world where knowledge/experience matters most Rubio would be the nominee as he has the most experience and has performed well at the highest levels of government. He also has a skillset really not possessed by any GOP presidential nominee since daddy Bush. He's a truly effective statesman on the international stage.

Desantis would be great as well

I don't trust Vance with that kind of power. He's just too populist for me.

Gubernatorial election coming up, and Governor DeSantis is term limited. Byron Donalds is the leading contender on the Republican side, but while he's polling ahead of every other primary challenger, he's level with "Undecided." There isn't much on the Democrat side.

This hasn't been covered that much, but there's controversy over some of the other people in the race.

Quote:

Lt. Gov. Jay Collins filed a legal challenge arguing that one of his Republican gubernatorial challengers shouldn't qualify for the ballot.
Collins is contesting in the Second Judicial Circuit in Leon County that conservative activist James Fishback, one of 11 Republicans to qualify for the August primary, hasn't lived in Florida the required seven years, one of the qualifications necessary to run for governor outlined in the state constitution.
"James Fishback has spent months telling Florida Republicans his polls show him in first place and that he meets Florida's constitutional residency requirements," Collins said in a release. "If he's telling the truth, then this lawsuit should be the easiest thing he's done all campaign."

Unless he moved away at some point in the last 10 years so that there was a small gap, he posted his FL DL that was issued in 2016 as well as his voting history since 2016 showing hes voted in FL since then on is IG this morning.

That's crazy. I thought Donalds was a "true" style "conservative". The Donalds/Fishback debate would be prime time TV. But of course, the GOP won't let us have anything cool in this country

Collins, Fishback, and Renner will be debating on the PBD podcast tomorrow. Idk why Donalds keeps running from this. I have a feeling he will win but be major step down from Desantis

Donalds wont debate because he is literally a GOP empty suit. You put him in a room where he actually has to debate his positions, he would get destroyed.

So to both you and TRM, as someone who lives here and is legitimately invested, can you please provide me with actual proof?

I'm being serious too, because nothing I have seen has shown me otherwise, but if he's a legit POS then I'm done with him. (I also have close personal friends that have both met and spoken with him several times).

This next election for FL GOV is huge and I'm trying to make the best decision I can.

Thanks for the help.

have you really not heard how he was accused of grooming a minor? yes, he denied it, but then he just so happened to move in with her when she turned 18. probably a strange coincidence. he never did anything untoward, they just fell in love magically the day she was of age.

and you can be as serious as you want, Fishback is as likely to be the next governor as rosie o'donnell.
