Because they don't want to admit what really happens. How truly brutal it is and how far along many of these babies are. When they're forced to they get uncomfortable, which they should.
I would wager many people are completely unaware of what most abortion procedures entail.
At least, that is what I would hope. It is incomprehensible to me how someone could view footage from an abortion and still be in favor of it.
If it were up to me, I'd require every sixth-grader (before they're sexually active, hopefully) to learn about fetal development, and then the gory details of how abortions are performed.
Wouldn't have many "pro-choice" people after that.
I was pro choice as a freshman in college before I knew anything about it. It was just the "correct" position since it gave women rights or something. Then, I heard and saw from a video exactly how the process was done. My mind changed in an instant.
This is how you change minds. Nobody can defend the brutality when it's explained in honest terms.
I'm still pro choice, because I don't believe the government should dictate how people should live their lives, much less their bodies.
The last thing I want is the government telling me what to do with me and mine.
Where this debate inevitably splits is when is it no longer the woman's choice? Does the baby have rights in this conversation? Mom didn't wake up one day pregnant and now suddenly has to figure it out. I was pretty blunt with my kids, someone you know is going to graduate HS with a kid, don't let it be you. Then later just a simple discussion of how easy it is not to get pregnant.
As Jordan Peterson says, we've convinced women sex is free. Free of consequence either from pregnancy or emotional attachment. Just have fun, there's no risk it doesn't end well. So the most basic animal instinct we have and the most critical role it serves in society is reduced to a throw away decision that doesn't require any level of personal responsibility.
This is the third generation of feminism, women as sex objects. Now that it's engrained in society we've moved on to the fourth which is chicks with dicks. Or put another way, women aren't as important as mentally ill men.
