We all kind of hit a certain year and just stop listening to new music. Mine was around 2007. Any rock and country from the 70's-2007 (and 90s rap) is great music with most stuff past that being crap. I find new songs/artists that are the exception (Turnpike, Flatland, etc), but the nostalgia doesn't hit quite as hard as the old stuff, especially from '96-04 which were my HS and college years.
Also, with a teenage daughter, I hear all kinds of new
crap music when she's in the car and takes over the radio. Some of it is catch, but most isn't. Luckily, she also loves 90's country and Turnpike, so I've got that going for me.
